This year the Sutton Runners 10k enjoyed its third year at the new venue at Nonsuch Park, Cheam on Sunday 10th May. This year, there was a slight change to the course due to some works being carried out. The day was pleasantly warm for onlookers, if not a little hot for the runners. This race sells out early every year and due to the agreeable conditions most of the entrants made it to the race. As usual, many Surrey clubs turned up in force with some clubs using the race for part of their club grand prix.
This year the race was sponsored by Chiltern Health Centre
who provided goodies for finishers (including a Mars bar) and free massage at the end. Runners also received a memento Sutton Runners mug. Proceeds from the race are supporting The Backcare Charity.
Leading the mens field was Kieran White from Hercules Wimbledon with a time of 33:58 followed by Ollie Garrod from Epsom and Ewell Harriers at 34:24 and Nathan Smeaton from Clapham Chasers who finished in 34:30.
For the women, Megan De Silva from Ranelagh Harriers led the way with a time of 38:59 followed by Rachel Baker from Clapham Chasers with a time of 39:54. Third for the ladies was Jenny Steedman from Guildford and Godalming AC with a time of 40:35.
Mens and womens team prizes were both won by Ranelagh Harriers teams.
