At the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial on Saturday 29th November nine members of Sutton Runners took part. They were; Tim McIntyre 21.07 (20th), Lauren Jones who ran in 21.30 (27th) a PB and also 3rd Lady, Chris Homewood
25.42 (75th) PB, Claire Ballhatchet 26.34 (88th), Kaye Benjamin 27.03 (93rd), Annabel Meade 29.36 (111th), Sue McIntyre 32.22 (122nd), Patricia Cue 32.34 (123rd) and Pauline Woodman 33.23 (125th). Whilst at the Wimbledon Common 5k Time Trial, Jenny Sinfield took part and completed in 23.11 to come 58th.
At the Beddington Park 10k also on Saturday 30th November three members of Sutton Runners took part. Barry Walden ran in 56.30 and was his 1st 10k.
Also running was Nicola Woolvin in 58.20 and Michele Qualtrough 59.35 who achieved PBs.
Whilst a little further afield Barbara Burnett ran in the Club LaSanta Running Challenge in Lanzarote. This challenge consists of 4 races in 4 days, starting on Sunday 23rd November. First day was a 10k race which she completed in 50.56, then came the 13k Ridge Run in 1.09.20, the third race was run on sand and covered a distance of 5k and completed in a time of 32.13. Then finally came the 21k where she ran in a time of 1.52.13. Barbara made up a team of 3 females that came 5th overall.
November 17th 2008
The weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial 5k on Saturday 15th November, saw 8 members of Sutton Runners taking part with three achieving PBs. They were; Lauren Jones 21.51 (41st), Clair Du Toit 24.10 (57th) and Annabel Meade 30.08 (129th). Other runners were Claire Ballhatchet 26.16 (95th), Trish Coombs 27.31 (109th), Chris Homewood 28.45 (123rd), Patricia Cue 30.34 (134th) and Pauline Woodman 33.11 (146th).
Meanwhile at the Bushy Park 5k Time Trial Jackie Arrowsmith ran in a time of 26.13 coming 274th.
Then on Sunday 16 November the members of Sutton Runners had a mix bag of races. At the Brighton 10k Martin Newton ran in a time of 36.38 to come 71st.
At the Epsom 10mile race. Vicky Foad ran an outstanding race and finished in 66.59 (45th) to come 1st LV35 and 2nd Lady. The other runners were: Jonathan Senker 67.55 (53rd), Sam Riggs 80.26 (186th), Kaye Benjamin 93.11 (272nd), Tony Bannister 93.11 (273rd), Chris Homewood 93.38 (277th) and Karen Rogers 97.21 (302nd).
In the Gosport Half Marathon both the Sutton Runners achieved PBs. They were Graham Mller in 1.34.25 (285th) and Andrea Francis in 1.34.39 (294th).
And the final race of the weekend was the Cornish Marathon and Jim Mundy ran in a time of 3.43.23 (71st) and came 3rd MV50. Yin-Hai Cheung finished in 4.12.28 (138th).
November 10th 2008
On Saturday 8th November the second cross country event took place. Both female and male members of Sutton Runners took part in the races which were held at Lightwater Country Park.
With the recent rain the course was very muddy, but luckily the rain stopped in time for the women’s race and the sun even came out. The female finish order was: Vicky Ford 27:52 (54th), Lauren Jones 28:55 (75th), Andrea Francis 29:10 (81st), Therese Panetta 31:25(119th), Clair Du Toit 33:15 (139th), Kaye Benjamin 34:23 (149th), Claire Ballhatchet 34:32 (151st), Carly Pigdon 36:42 (164th) and Harriet Pelling 40:38 (168th). Currently after two races, the ladies team are in 15th position in Division 1.
Whilst later on in the day the men’s race took place and 21 members of Sutton Runners took part. Their finishing order was; Harry Martin, Martin Newton,Chris Catt,Charles Green,Jonathan Senker, Simeon Linger, Peter Sturton, Jim Mundy, Geoff Butson, Neal Richardson, Matt Denmead, Chris Bailey, Stephen Chamberlain, Ian Owen, Darren Ford, Earl Tulloch, Avi Shirodkar, Graham Miller, James Barber, Alan Purvey and Chris Hahn.
Also on Saturday a number of Sutton Runners took part in the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial. They were; Jim Mundy 20.59 (13th), Tim McIntyre 21.43 (20th), Colin Cooper 23.58 (36th), Chris Homewood 26.48 (64th), Sue McIntyre 31.25 (100th), Patricia Cue 31.35 (101st), Pauline Woodman 33.54 (107th).
And over at the Wimbledon Common 5k Time Trial Jenny Sinfield ran a PB at this race in a time of 22.25 to come in 34th position.
Further afield and much further distance at the Dorset Coastal Marathon Dave Ross had a superb race and came 1st in a time of 3.35. After such a result Dave decided to run another marathon the following day, this time in the tough Steppingly Step Marathon and he managed to finish in a time of 5.05. Also running this marathon was Jim Mundy 5.47 and Yin-Hai Cheung 5.47.

At the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial on Saturday 1st November , 10 members of Sutton Runners took part. Whilst over in the Richmond Park 5k Steven Barber of Sutton Runners took part for the first time and came 9th overall in a time of 19.28.
On Sunday 2nd November, the second of the Ronhill Surrey Classic races took place in Nonsuch Park, Cheam. The runners were very lucky with fine weather and 20 members of Sutton Runners took part. Also on Sunday in the Stevenage Half Marathon Jonathan Senker took part and finished in 1.32.01
Much further afield over in the New York Marathon on Sunday 2nd November, Chris Catt of Sutton Runners took part and ran a PB in a time of 3.25.53.
October 27th 2008
The weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial on Saturday 25th October saw four members of Sutton Runners taking part. Clair du Toit ran in 25.07 to finish in 8th place and also ran a PB. Other Sutton Runners were Claire Ballhatchet 26.36 (108th), Calrly Pigdon 27.46 (118th) PB and Patricia Cue 32.02 (141st).
In the Snowdonia Marathon on Saturday 25th October, two Sutton Runners took part. They were Jim Mundy 3.54.51 (336th) and Yin-Hai Cheung 4.39.29 (788th).
Also on Saturday in the Beachy Head Marathon Dave Ross came 8th overall in a time of 3.18. and Peter Sturton ran in 4.49 (385th) followed by Spencer Rolls in 5.21 (634th).
Whilst on Sunday Spencer Rolls ran yet another marathon this time in the Crawley Track Marathon and finished in 5.15.
The first of the Ronhill series of 10k races was run on a very wet Sunday 26th October. There are three races in this series and this one took place at Oxshott. Eleven members of Sutton Ruuners took part. Luis Gomez finished in 6th place overall in a time of 35.50. Followed in 8th place by Martin Newton in 37.00. The first lady home was a Sutton Runner, Vicky Foad in a time of 40.37. Other Sutton Runner times were Steve Wise 39.22 (27th) PB, Dave Ross 41.12 (40th), Earl Tulloch 45.22 (74th) PB, Jenny Sinfield 46.10 (79th) PB, Penny Hubbard 46.55 (82nd) PB, Fiona Park 47.01 (83rd), Anita Hedges 48.21 (97th), Rachel Lydon 61.24 (198th).
Whilst down in Portsmouth in the Great South 10 mile race Joe Farrugia ran in 1.26.28 (3561st) and Gill Fry ran in 1.29.33 (4422nd), both members of Sutton Runners.

On Saturday 18th October the Banstead Woods 5k time trial had 9 members of Sutton Runners taking part. Three achieved PBs, they were Chris Catt in 17.58 who also came 3rd overall. Another PB was achieved by Greg Bryant in 20.35 (17th) and also Michele Qualtrough in 30.35 (104th). Other runners were; Dave Ross 19.28 (7th), Steven Barber 19.53 (10th), Trish Coombs 27.42 (86th), Sue McIntyre 31.01 (105th), Patricia Cue 32.34 (112th) and Mab Choudhury 33.52 (118th). Whilst over at the Wimbledon Common Time Trial Jonathan Senker took part for the first time and completed in 20.06 to come 21st.
On Sunday at the Cabbage Patch 10 Miles race 27 members of Sutton Runners took part. It was a great turnout for the club and also a great run for a lot of them with 10 achieveing PBs. In Amsterdam, Sutton Runners had two members taking part in the Marathon. They were Luis Gomez 3.12.29 (541st) and Jim Mundy 3.24.27 (970th) who ran a PB. Whilst in Guildford Dave Ross ran in the Founders Marathon which was an extremely tough off road marathon and Dave completed in a time of 5.05.

On Saturday 11th October at the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial 5k four member of Sutton Runners raced; Dave Ross 22.20 (39th), Rachel Lydon 29.41 (109th), Sue McIntyre 31.34 (116th) and Patricia Cue 32.28 (120th). Whilst over at the Bushy Park 5k Time Trial Jackie Arrowsmith ran for the first time and completed in 25.10 (237th).
Also on Saturday the first of the Surrey Country Cross Country races took place. This year the ladies of Sutton Runners ran for the first time in League Division 1, being promoted last year from Division 2. The race took place at Nork Park Banstead and Sutton Runners had 14 lady runners involved. They were Vicky Foad 27.11 (28th), Andrea Francis 29.36 (67th), Penny Hubbard 30.49 (95th), Jenny Sinfield 30.52 (97th), Therese Panetta 32.09 (116th), Kathryn Chisholm 33.39 (136th), Barbara Burnett 33.49 (139th), Clair du Toit 35.00 (150th), Jackie Arrowsmith 35.32 (155th), Kaye Benjamin 36.41 (160th), Claire Ballhatchet 36.45 (161st),Mary Lamont 36.59 (163rd), Michaela Moher 39.34 (172nd) and Carly Pigdon 39.37 (173rd).
On Sunday 12th October Kingston hosted a Running Festival. There were two races a 8.2 Mile and 16 mile race. Fiona Park from Sutton Runners took pate in the 8.2 mile race and completed in 1.01.33 (154th), whilst in the 16 miles race Chris Hahn ran in 2.21.55 (404th)

At the Banstead Woods Time Trial 5k on Saturday 4th October twelve members of Sutton Runners took part. Lauren Jones came 2nd Lady overall in a time of 21.56, whilst 5 others achieved PBs, they were Chris Catt 18.02 who also came 3rd overall, Graham Miller 21.46 (38th), Jenny Sinfield 22.15 (47th), Carly Pidgon 27.54 (98th) and Annabel Meade 31.04 (116th). Other runners were Harry Martin 19.26 (6th), Tim McIntyre 19.44 (12th), Neal Richardson 20.56 (26th), Kaye Benjamin 26.34 (85th), Sue McIntyre 31.33 (118th) and Patricia Cue 33.02 (124th).
Also on Saturday the Four to Go Trail Marathon was run and three members took part. Dave Ross not only ran a PB, but came 2nd overall in a time of 2.51.33 another PB was run by Mark Aldred 3.57.03. Jim Mundy ran in 4.34.00.
Then on Sunday there were a few different races.
The Dulwich Charity 10k. Martin Newton ran in 37.38.
Great North Run Half Marathon and three members took part; Verity Shaw 1.52.06, Mark Asten 2.14.06 and Kathryn Asten 2.14.07
Also Run to the Beat Half Marathon where another three members took part, two achieving PBs. Earl Tulloch 1.46.31 (753rd) PB, Michele Qualtrough 2.17.38 (4869th) PB and Katerina Tulloch 3.02.02 (6963rd).
There were two marathons run on Sunday where members of the club took part.
The Loch Ness Marathon was run by Barbara Burnett who completed in a time of 4.19.01.
The Great Clarendon Trail Marathon where Dave Ross took part after competing in another marathon on Saturday and this time ran a time of 3.53 along with fellow club members Jim Mundy who ran in 4.58.

The usual weekly 5k time trial at Banstead Woods on Saturday 27th September had another good turnout of Sutton Runners. There were 10 running and 2 achieved PBs.
Chris Catt 18.04 (7th), Dave Ross 18.52 (12th), Steven Barber 19.50 (21st), Lauren Jones 22.44 (55th), Penny Hubbard 23.13 (61st), Therese Panetta 23.34 (68th), Jackie Arrowsmith 25.59 (96th) PB, Claire Ballhatchet 26.02 (98th), Kaye Benjamin 26.11 (102nd) PB and Steven Clarke 26.40 (109th).
Whilst at the 5k time trial at Wimbledon Common, Greg Bryant competed and ran in a time of 20.58 (36th) also achieving a PB.
In Lloyd Park on Sunday 29th September, the Switchback 5 Mile race was run. Although 5 miles, it was an tough off road race. Six members of Sutton Runners took part. They were Jon Senker 34.28 (27th), Peter Sturton 35.01 (29th), Ange Norris 35.35 (33rd), Neal Richardson 36.55 (37th), Jenny Sinfield 38.53 (48th) and Graham Miller 40.30 (53rd).
A little further afield in Berlin, Jim Mundy and Steve Wise ran the Berlin Marathon. Their times were Jim Mundy 3.28.18 (5731st) and Steve Wise 3.41.15 (9093rd).

Yet again another weekend of races for members of Sutton Runners. On Saturday at the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial, nine members took park and four achieving PBs, they were Chris Catt 18.03, who came in 9th place, Stewart Stanton 23.25 (67th), Jackie Arrowsmith 26.10 (100th) and Marion Stanton 26.29 (109th). The other members who ran were Harry Martin 18.33 (11th), Dave Ross 19.01 (15th), Therese Panetta 23.26 (69th), Claire Ballhatchet 25.46 (92nd) and Kaye Benjamin 26.26 (107th).
Then on Sunday 8 Sutton Runners travelled to Hove to compete in the Brooks Hove Prom 10k. Out of the 8, 4 of ran PBs in the glorious autumn sunshine. Graham Miller 43.39 (105th), Neal Richardson 44.34 (121st), Greg Bryant 44.53 (127th) PB, Andrea Francis 44.55 (128th), Avi Shirodkar 45.09 (135th) PB, Jenny Sinfield 46.48 (156th) PB, Anita Hedges 47.22 (163rd) PB and Lauren Jones 48.03 (169th)
Further west in the New Forest it was yet another marathon for Dave Ross and Jim Mundy, Jim running his 46th marathon of the year and Dave not that far behind. Dave Ross 3.00.10 (11th) and Jim Mundy 3.39.33 (123rd)

The weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial 5k on Saturday 13th September had seven members of Sutton Runners taking part. Two achieving PB’s, they were Dave Ross who came in 5th place overall in a time of 18.32 and Graham Miller finished in 21.56 (43rd). Other runners were: Greg Bryant 21.03 (34th), Claire Ballhatchet 26.04 (71st), Kaye Benjamin 26.34 (86th), Trish Coombs 28.09 (95th), Patricia Cue 30.58 (107th).
On Sunday there were a mixture of different races. Fresh from the PB of the Banstead Woods Time Trial, Dave Ross competed in The Nottingham Marathon and finished in a time of 3.06.50 (58th).
At the Bristol Half-Marathon Geoff Butson ran in a time of 1.31.54 (582nd).
Then something a little different for Sutton Runners, three members took part in the Richmond Duathlon which consisted of a 10k Run, 20k Bike, 5k Run. They were Vicky Foad who completed in a total time of 1.48.21 (354th). She ran the 10k in 38.15 the bike section in 45.37 and the final 5k run in 21.17. Penny Hubbard total time was 1.56.08 (711th). Completing her 10k in 43.58, the bike session in 45.07 and the final 5k run in 24.00. Jackie Arrowsmith overall time was 2.20.23 (1530th). Her 10k run time was 49.31 the 5k bike in 60.44 and her 5k time was 26.11.

On Saturday 6th September at the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial, five members of Sutton Runners took part. Steven Barber 19.54 (20th), Graham Miller 22.19 (45th), Penny Hubbard 23.32 (59th), Claire Ballhatchet 26.38 (92nd) and Trish Coombs 28.13 (107th).
Whilst on Sunday 7th September, on the Kent Coast, where the weather was very mixed between rain and sunshine. The annual Kent Coastal Half Marathon and Marathon took place. Barbara Burnett took part in the Half Marathon and completed in a time of 1.56.32 (142nd). Whilst in the Marathon Dave Ross had an outstanding run and completed in 3.06.08 to come 4th overall and also to claim 1st MV40 place. Peter Sturton finished in 3.27.13 (31st) and then Jim Mundy 3.48.52 (74th).
In Surrey at the Badger Half-Marathon Ian Owen completed in 1.43.12 (45th) and Therese Panetta in 1.50.59 (92nd).

Sutton Runner Martin Newton took part in the Hyde Park 5k on Friday 29th August and came 27th out of 211 in a time of 18.39.
Then on Saturday 30 August at the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial another large turnout of Sutton Runners took part, 22 in total with 9 achieving PBs. Coming 3rd in the race with a PB was Jonathan Trehearn in 17.16, then closely behind in 7th place Martin Giles in 18.08 PB, in 8th place Harry Martin 18.17 PB, 11th place Dave Ross in 18.40 PB. The other PBs were achieved by Mark Aldred in 21.27 (38th), Graham Miller 21.59 (45th), Stewart Stanton 23.43 (64th), Mary Lamont 26.31 (97th), Annabel Meade 31.22 (141st). Whilst at the Seaford Marathon on Sunday 31st August Jim Mundy completed in a time of 4hrs 14m.
Whilst on holiday in Lincolnshire, two members of Sutton Runners, Mark and Kathryn Asten took part in a tough 10k. The race was run on Sunday 24 August and took part around the grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle, an undulating and multi-terrain race the Bourne Town Harriers - Grimsthorpe Castle 10k - Mark completed in 53.00 whilst wife Kathryn completed in 59.47

The Bank holiday weekend brought out a record number of runners at the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial, the attendance record was smashed as 180 turned up. Sutton Runners had their largest turnout at 25 runners, five taking part for the first time and five achieving PBs. The PB’s were achieved by Martin Giles 18.17 who came 4th overall, Penny Hubbard 22.32 (67th), Colin Cooper 23.51 (92nd), Trish Coombs 27.30 (133rd) and Annabel Meade 32.05 (162nd). The first timers trying out the run were Sam Riggs 21.33 (50th), Tracy Begg 22.13 (58th), Graham Miller 22.19 (60th), Stewart Stanton 24.59 (104th) and Marion Stanton 27.24 (131st). The other club runners running were Dave Ross 19.22 (18th) followed immediately behind by Peter Nixon 19.23 (19th), Steven Barber 19.42 (26th), Peter Sturton 19.59 (28th), Neal Richardson 21.09 (45th), Mark Aldred 22.43 (71st), Greg Bryant 23.07 (78th), Anita Hedges 23.54 (93rd), Therese Panetta 24.10 (97th), Claire Ballhatchet 25.44 (116th), Steven Clarke 26.16 (120th), Kaye Benjamin 26.44 (125th), Nicola Miles 29.04 (152nd),Patricia Cue 30.58 (160th), Pauline Woodman 33.55 (177th).
The last of the Surrey Road League races for 2008 has now ended with the Wimbledon 5k. The results show that for Sutton Runners the Ladies Overall Position was 5th and the Mens Overall Position was 7th. For the ladies, Andrea Francis was 5th Senior Lady, Vicky Foad 1st LV35, Therese Panetta 2nd LV45 and Penny Hubbard 3rd LV45. For the men Luis Gomez 2nd MV40 and Martin Giles 4th MV40.

On Saturday 16th August at the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial, 11 members of Sutton Runners took part, two achieving PS, Chris Catt in 18.19 coming in 4th and directly behind in 5th place was Harry Martin in 18.34. Another member took part for the frist time, Trish Coombs ran in 28.38 and came 117th. The other club runners were: Peter Sturton 20.02 (19th), Dave Ross 20.03 (20th), Penny Hubbard 23.00 (47th) Therese Panetta 23.05 (49th),Claire Ballhatchet 26.02 (84th), Steven Clarke 26.19 (90th) and Micheala Moher in 28.55 (120th).
Two Sutton Runners who took part in the 5k Time Trial on Saturday also took part in two different races on Sunday. Peter Sturton ran in the Henfield Half Marathon and finished in around 1hr 40. Dave Ross ran in the Dorset Doddle Ultra, this race covered 32 miles and Dave ran a great time of 5hrs 45 mins and came 5th overall.
Also on Sunday Jim Mundy took part in the Race the Train, which took place in Wales and Jim finished in 1hr 58, unfortunately the train won as it stopped in 1hr 47mins.

On Monday 4 August Martin Newton took part in the 5k at Battersea Park and came 10th overall out of a field of 105 and completed in a time of 18.07.
On Saturday 9 August, the weekly running of the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial took place. Six members of Sutton Runners took part. Steven Barber came 18th overall and ran a time of 19.42 and Anita Hedges also ran a PB in 23.51 (67th). Other runners were Jim Mundy 20.59 (49th), Claire Ballhatchet 26.15 (98th), Nicola Miles 28.50 (101st) and Pauline Woodman 33.53 (148th).
Then on Sunday the final Surrey Road League was run at the Belgrave Bolt Wimbledon 5k. The mens team came 8th and the Ladies team 7th. In total 19 Sutton Runners took part and achieve 7 PBs. Steven Barber ran a PB in 19.07 (58th) but had also ran a PB at the previous days Banstead Woods time trial and this time broke it by nearly 30 seconds. Other PB runners were: Mark Aldred 21.37 (117th), Lauren Jones 21.39 (119th), Earl Tulloch 22.09 (129th), Andrea Francis 22.12 (130th), Fiona Park 22.25 (132nd) and Colin Cooper 23.16 (155th). Also on Sunday at the Salisbury 54321 Marathon Dave Ross had a fantastic run and came 4th overall in a time of 3.21.30.

Sutton Runners had a large turnout at the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial on Saturday 2nd August. Twenty members took part with eight achieving PBs and three members taking part for the first time. The PBs were achieve by Martin Giles came 7th overall and ran in a time of 18.21, Steve Wise 19.46 (16th), Steven Barber 19.50 (18th), Mark Aldred 22.24 (51st), Anita Hedges 24.01 (67th), Caroline Gravestock 27.14 (107th), Michaela Moher 28.45 (125th) and Michelle Qualtrough 31.03 (140th). The members taking part in their first time trial were Fiona Park 22.52 (57th), Colin Cooper 25.53 (90th) and Clair Du Toit 26.22 (95th). The other members of the club who took part were: Harry Martin (19.36) 13th, Lauren Jones 22.12 (49th), Penny Hubbard 23.18 (59th), Claire Ballhatchet 26.34 (98th), Steven Clarke 26.58 (101st), Kaye Benjamin 27.09 (104th), Rachel Lydon 28.09 (116th), Patricia Cue 30.46 (138th) and Pauline Woodman 34.34 (148th).
Then on Sunday at the Dovedale Dipper Marathon, two of the clubs regular marathon runners took part. Dave Ross ran in 4.06 to come 5th overall followed by Jim Mundy in a time of 5.40.

Two members of Sutton Runners took part in the Centenary Marathon on Thursday 24th July. This race was run on the same course as the London Olympic Marathon which took place on 24 July 1908, which established 26.2miles as the official distance for the marathon for the first time. Jim Mundy ran in the attire worn by the marathon runners of the day (photo attached).
Dave Ross finished in 3.36.30 and came 1st (Equal) followed by Jim Mundy (no result yet)
As well as taking part in the Centenary Marathon on Thursday Dave Ross also ran in the Davos 78k Ultra Marathon in Switzerland and finished in 9 hrs, 56 minutes.
The weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial 5k which took place on Saturday 26th July had some great results for members of Sutton Runners. Two achieving PBs, Chris Catt coming 10th overall ran a PB in a time of 18.20 and Caroline Gravestock also ran a PB in 27.45 coming 100th. Michaela Moher ran for the first time and came 111th in a time of 28.49. Other club runners were Peter Nixon 19.23 (17th), Penny Hubbard 23.25 (54th), Claire Ballhatchet 26.06 (78th), Rachel Lydon 27.44 (99th), Karen Rogers 28.16 (108th), Patricia Cue 30.23 (118th) and Pauline Woodman 34.18 (130th).

Sutton Runners had a very busy weekend of races. On Saturday there were three races the club took part in. First the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial and 5 members ran. For first timer Annabel Meade who completed in 36.44 (111th). Other runners were Steven Barber 20.26 (16th), Claire Ballhatchet 27.42 (71st), Patricia Cue 29.41 (88th), Pauline Woodman 34.44 (106th).
Then over at the Wimbledon Common 5k Time Trial Michaela Moher ran in a time of 28.46 (86th).
The final race on Saturday was the Elmore 7 Miles where Luis Gomez ran a fantastic race to come 6th overall and 3rd MV40 in a time of 40.35. Other club runners were Lynn Hickey 64.42 (201st), Kaye Benjamin 65.13 (208th), Trish Coombs 65.17 (209th), Steven Clarke 66.03 (219th), Kathryn Asten 67.02 (223rd) and Patricia Cue 76.55 (259th) who amazingly had already ran that morning in the Banstead Woods Time trial.
The final race of the weekend was at the Elmbridge 10k which took place on Sunday 20th July. Not satisfied with running on Saturday Luis Gomez competed again and yet again achieved a splendid result by coming 3rd MV40 in a time of 34.50, 17th place overall. For the ladies the clubs Vicky Foad ran in a time of 42.56 (180th) to achieve the position of 3rd LV35. Not only achieving a PB but also having raced the previous day was Steven Barber who ran in a time of 41.29 (148th), there were also five other members who ran PBs, they were Adam Jarosz 46.01 (258th) PB, Mark Aldred 46.16 (266th) PB, Earl Tulloch 47.10 (297th) PB, Penny Hubbard 47.12 (300th) PB, Anita Hedges 47.34 (315th) PB. Two other members would have also been pleased with their times were Graham Miller 43.26 (193rd) who ran his best time in 6 Years and Neal Richardson (43.53) 205th who ran his best in 3 Years. Other club results were Martin Giles 36.07 (37th), Martin Newton 37.15 (51st), Steve White 44.55 (233rd), Andrea Francis 46.06, (262nd), Tony Gallagher 47.04 (291st), Jenny Sinfield 48.47 (345th), Kathryn Chisholm 52.02 (419th), then followed by Claire Ballhatchet 52.48 (428th) who had already ran the previous day, she was followed by Clair Du Toit 54.28 (458th) and Mary Lamont 56.57 (507th).

On Wednesday 9th July three members of Sutton Runners took part in the
Reigate Priory Summer 10k. Finishing in 29th place was Steve Wise in a time
of 40.55. Then Mark Aldred in 48.14 (121st) and followed by Penny Hubbard
in 48.33 (133rd).
Then on Saturday 12th July the weekly 5k Banstead Woods time trail took
place where a number of Sutton Runners took part. In 12th position was Dave
Ross in 19.21. Followed by Steven Barber who came in 21st place in a time
of 20.00 and also achieved a PB. Another PB was run by Neal Richardson in
20.49 (27th). Other Sutton Runners were Therese Panetta 23.33 (53rd),
Claire Ballhatchet 26.21 (82nd), Steven Clarke 26.38 (86th), Kaye Benjamin
26.57 (92nd), Patricia Cue 30.08 (110th) and Pauline Woodman 34.39 (125th)
Whilst over in the Wimbledon Common Time Trial 5k Michaela Moher ran in
29.16 coming 81st.
Then on Sunday 13th July in the New Forest 10 Mile race Chris Catt achieved
a PB in a time of 61.37.
Also on Sunday st the LDWA Walk with Smugglers Marathon Dave Ross completed
in a time of 5.15.00,

A mixture of races for the members of Sutton Runners over the last week.
On Thursday 3rd July Sutton Runners had 8 teams running the Nonsuch Park Relays. Each team was made up of four runners each covering a distance of 2.2 miles. To make up team numbers the following members ran 2 legs, they were Andrea Francis, Chris Catt, Mark Aldred and Jim Mundy.
First Sutton Runners male team home in 45.03 was made up of Chris Catt (10.27), Martin Newton (10.34), Ian Owen (11.57) and Jim Mundy (12.05). Then the next male team ran in a total time of 48.09 made up of Jim Mundy (11.41), Avi Shirodkar (12.32), Colin Cooper (13.03) and Chris Catt (10.53). The first Sutton Runners female team completed in 49.06 and were made up of Vicky Foad (11.28), Andrea Francis (12.42), Lauren Jones (12.27) and Fiona Park (12.29). The next team home was a Male team M40 and completed in 50.12, Mark Aldred (12.13), Neal Richardson (11.59), Graham Miller (12.24) and Joe Farrugia (13.36). Then another male team completed in 51.34, Tony Gallagher (12.44), Steve Wise (12.38), Earl Tulloch (13.28) and Mark Aldred (12.44). The next women’s team completed in a total time of 55.51 and were made up of Anita Hedges (13.34), Claire Ballhatchet (14.30), Gill Fry (14.49), and Andrea Francis (12.58). Then a team of W40 Jackie Arrowsmith (14.54), Therese Panetta (13.30), Penny Hubbard (13.27), Tina Russell (16.14). The final team was another women’s team finished in 60.53 and was made up of Lynn Hickey (14.25), Kaye Benjamin (15.13), Karen Rogers (15.49) and V Major (15.26).
Then on Saturday 5 July the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial took place. Eight members took part and two achieved PB’s, they were Chris Catt in 18.23 finishing in 9th place and Lauren Jones in 21.53 in 55th place. The other runners were Peter Nixon 18.56 (15th), Dave Ross 19.11 (16th), Steven Barber 20.30, (33rd), Claire Ballhatchet 25.52 (104th), Steven Clarke 26.59, (117th) and Patricia Cue in 30.21, (141st).
Whilst over at the Wimbledon Common 5k Time Trial two members ran for the first time they were Clair Du Toit in 27.16 (54th) and Michele Qualtrough 29.36 (59th) and anther achieving a PB, Michaela Moher in 28.34 (56th).
Then on Sunday 5th July in the London 10k, Chris Catt finished in 63.00 and ran with his brother Simon, dressed as Batman (Chris) and Robin (Simon).

Sutton Runners had outstanding results in the Dysart Dash 10k race that took place on Sunday 29 June. The Ladies team came 4th overall and the Mens Team 10th overall. Twelve runners took part from the club with four achieving PB times. They were; Ian Owen in 45.36 PB, Lauren Jones 45.56 PB, Penny Hubbard 47.16 PB and Mark Aldred 47.39 PB. Luis Gomez finished in a time of 35.04 claiming 3rd MV40 position whilst Vicky Foad ran in 41.28 to come 4th LV35. Other runners were: Martin Giles 37.01, Jim Mundy 42.00, Andrea Francis 44.36, Neal Richardson 45.17, Anita Hedges 49.22 and Michaela Moher in 64.48.
Running in the Dulwich Park 5k on Wednesday 25th June was Martin Newton who came 25th in a time of 18.19.
Then on Saturday 28 June the weekly running of the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial took place and five six members of the club took part. They were: Chris Catt 18.57 who came 9th, then followed by Steven Barber 20.30 (24th), Claire Ballhatchet 26.11 (72nd), Kaye Benjamin 27.30 (81st), Steven Clarke 27.35 (82nd) and Patricia Cue in 30.23 (101st).

Various members of Sutton Runners took part in a number of different races over the past weekend. Starting on Friday 20 June with the Serpentine 5k, Martin Newton completed in a time of 19.07 and came 33rd overall.
Then the next day at the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial 5k, 15 members took part with Jonathan Trehearn finishing in 17.48 and coming 8th overall. Then followed by Martin Giles in 18.29 (16th), Peter Nixon 18.50 (17th), Steven Barber 21.41 (52nd), Lauren Jones 22.24 (58th), Penny Hubbard 22.57 (65th), Jenny Sinfield 23.10 (70th), Therese Panetta 23.15 (71st), Chris Benjamin 24.30 (82nd), Mark Aldred 25.30 (97th), Claire Ballhatchet 26.25 (105th), Kaye Benjamin 26.53 (112th), Patricia Cue 29.55 (129th), Greg Bryant 29.56 (130th) and Pauline Woodman 36.43(146th).
Also on Saturday another 5k time trial was run, this time in Wimbledon Common and Michaela Moher completed in 29.38 and came 68th.
On Sunday in Leeds, Michele Qualtrough took part in the Leeds Run for Jane 10k and finished in 64.00.
Jim Mundy decided to travel to Belgium to take part in the Night of Flanders 100km which was run over Friday and Saturday. Jim completed in a time of 11hrs 44 minutes.

Then on Saturday the usual Banstead Woods Time Trial 5k took place and a handful of Sutton Runners took part. Greg Bryant 23.09 (44th), Lauren Jones 23.25 (48th), Tony Gallagher 25.32 (66th) and Patricia Cue 29.26 (94th).
On Sunday two members were in South Africa taking part in the Comrades Ultra Marathon, which covers 56 Miles. Dave Ross who has recently achieved his 100 marathon medal ran in a time of 8.49.23 (1551st) and followed by Yin-Hai Cheung in 10.45.22 (5115th).
Then another member was in Nuremberg, Germany to take part in their Marathon. Jim Mundy, who has also ran over 100 marathons, finished this race in a time of 3.25.37 which was an outstanding achievement as this was his best time in 9 years, and also managed to get the 3rd MV55 award for this achievement.
Also on Sunday a couple of other races was being held, this time in the UK. The Alresford Rotary Club 10k, Michelle Qualtrough running a time of 62.48. And at the Epsom 10k Steve White ran in a time of 43.00.

On a sunny Saturday morning 10 members of Sutton Runners took part in the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial. Greg Bryant achieving a PB time in 21.00 (36th) and Chris Hahn ran this race for the first time and completed in 24.28 (79th). Other runners were Peter Nixon 18.54 (8th), Harry Martin 19.11 (10th), Kevin Stroud 19.16 (12th), Lauren Jones 23.20 (69th), Penny Hubbard 23.48 (74th), Therese Panetta 23.49 (75th) Kaye Benjamin 26.31 (102nd) and Patricia Cue 29.52 (126th).
Also on Saturday, Jim Mundy took part in the Dartmoor Discovery Ultra Marathon which was a course covering 32 miles. Jim completed in a time of 5.03.
Over the previous weekend Dean Klesser went to Switzerland to take part in the Half Ironman event and managed to complete the course in 6.02.59.

On Monday 2nd June the Cork Marathon race was held. This race was very special for one member of the club, Dave Ross, who was competing in his 100th Marathon and ran in a time of 3.29.04. Along with Dave, the other club runners were; Jim Mundy in 3.49.23 and Yin-Hai Cheung in 3.54.23. Dave now joins Jim Mundy is achieving this amazing feat.

On Saturday 31st May four members of Sutton Runners took part in the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial. Jim Mundy came 14th and ran in 20.53, followed in 19th place by Greg Bryant who ran a PB time of 21.20, then came Claire Ballhatchet 26.12 and Patricia Cue in 30.00.
On Sunday the club held their annual Club Championships at the Dorking 10 mile race. The title of Mens Club Champion was awarded to Luis Gomez who ran in a time of 59.00, whilst the Ladies Club Champion was awarded ti Andrea Francis who ran in a time of 74.51. Other Club Championships were: Martin Giles 62.58 (1st MV40), Peter Nixon who ran a PB in 66.31 (2nd MV40), Chris Catt 67.52 (2nd SM), Kevin Stroud 68.47 (3rd MV40), Jim Mundy 69.45 (1st MV50), John Rawlinson 73.13, Therese Panetta who ran a PB in 76.44 (1st LV45), Avi Shirodkar ran her first 10 mile race in 78.11, Mark Aldred who also ran his first 10 mile race in 79.45 (3rd SM), Penny Hubbard 81.30, Yin-Hai Cheung 81.56 (1st LV35), another PB was achieved by Lauren Jones in 82.02 (2nd SL), Anne Davidson 89.49 (2nd LV35), Wendy Wakelin 90.08 and Stewart Howe in 90.29.
Whilst over on the Isle of Wight, Spencer Rolls was taking part in the Needles Marathon and finished in a time of 5hrs 22m.

On Saturday 17th May Sutton Runner’s Chris Catt competed in the Eaton Super Sprint Triathlon and came 25th in his age group finishing in 1.08.57.
On the same day at the Banstead Woods Time Trial 5K there were 10 Sutton Runners taking part, many running personal bests: - Peter Nixon finished in 3rd place with a PB of 18.48, followed by Charles Green in 8th 19.21 PB; Steven Barber 22nd 20.55; Greg Bryant 32nd 21.58 PB; Terry Tysoe 41st 22.24 PB; Penny Hubbard 45th 23.07 PB; Therese Panetta 50th 23.25; Stewart Howe 65th 25.18; Claire Ballhatchet 74th 25.49 and Tricia Cue 99th in 29.58. Banstead Woods’ co-ordinator Kaye Benjamin was away for the weekend but managed to do a 5K time trial in Cardiff in 25.42 and came 36th.
On Sunday 18th Jim Mundy ran the last of his 10 marathons in 10 days in the Brathay Challenge. All the marathons were run on the same course around Lake Windermere. His times were 4.09.40; 4.46.19; 4.43.25; 4.35.59; 4.20.50; 4.16.59; 4.00.05; 3.54.39; 4.04.07 and 3.46.08 with an average of 4.15.49, an incredible feat.
On Saturday 24th May Sutton Runners were out in force again at the Banstead Woods Time Trial 5k where a record number of 152 runners took part. The first Sutton Runner home was Martin Giles in 5th place and running 18.33 at his first visit to the time trial; followed closely by Time Trial regular Peter Nixon 6th 18.44 PB; 26th Steven Barber returning to form following an injury 20.38; 44th Greg Bryant 21.58; 50th Mark Aldred a PB of 22.29; Therese Panetta 52nd 22.41PB; 85th Wendy Wakelin 24.53; 91st Claire Ballhatchet 25.26; 110th Steven Clarke 27.08; and Tricia Cue 30.06. At the Wimbledon Common Time Trial Jenny Sinfield ran a PB to come 46th in 22.45 and at the Bushy Park Time Trial Chris Catt took part for the 1st time and ran 18.22 to finish 19th.
On Sunday 25th May several Sutton Runners travelled up to Scotland to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon with some amazing results. The provisional results known are Darran Ford 3.12 PB; Graham Miller 3.28 just ahead of Jim Mundy in 3.28; Bola Bamford 3.37 in her first marathon; Anita Hedges 3.41 PB; Neal Richardson 3.46; Mark Asten 4.22 and Mark Staples 4.50

A number of Sutton Runners took part in various races over the weekend. On Saturday the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial took place and 4 members achieved PBs. Then on Sunday 11 May nine members of Sutton Runners took part in the Ranelagh Half Marathon, the ladies ream finishing in 5th and the mens team in 15th place. Peter Nixon achieved a PB in a time of 1.28.46. Vicky Foad came 3rd LV35 in 1.32.55 and Therese Panetta came 3rd LV45 in 1.44.24. The other runners were Graham Miller in 1.38.08, Neal Richardson in 1.39.44, Andrea Francis 1.45.39, Tony Gallagher 1.49.17, Adam Jarosz 1.52.52 and Dean Klesser in 2.02.17.
Whilst at the Halstead Marathon, Dave Ross clocked up another excellent run to come 12th overall in a time of 3.09.20.

The first race was the Dave Clark 5k Modern Park race, where twenty Sutton Runners took part Matt Denmead leading the club to come 7th overall in a time of 18.24, followed by Darren Ford 19.47, Vicky Foad 19.58, Jim Mundy 20.17, John Rawlinson 20.51, Neal Richardson 20.53, Tony Gallagher 21.01, Graham Miller 21.24, Avi Shirodkar 21.51, Mark Aldred 21.54, Jenny Sinfield 21.57, Darren Marshall 22.58, Penny Hubbard 23.11, Chris Hahn 24.25, Claire Ballhatchet 24.53, Gill Fry 25.15, Kaye Benjamin 25.58, Caroline Gravestock 26.35, Karen Rogers 28.16, Michelle Qualtrough 30.35.
Then on Saturday 3 May ten members took part in the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial, father and daughter Charles and Kate Green both achieving achieved PBs, Kate Green in 23.45 and Charles Green in 23.46. Other runners were Steve Wise 20.27, Penny Hubbard 23.25, Stewart Howe 26.13, Kaye Benjamin 26.41, Steven Clarke 27.18, Patricia Cue 30.44, Greg Bryant 30.45.
The following day Sutton Runners held their annual 10k which is part of the Surrey Road. The club had two teams running, the men’s team came 4th out of 27, and the women’s 6th out of 18. Leading the club was Luis Gomez in 35.24, who came 6th overall and 2nd MV40. Followed by Martin Giles 37.27, Chris Catt 38.23, Peter Nixon 38.29, Darren Ford 40.45,Vicky Foad 41.27, Jenny Sinfield 46.50,Therese Panetta 46.51, Penny Hubbard 48.21.
Whilst other members of the club were notching up yet more marathons; Dave Ross heading towards his 100th, ran in the Three Forts Marathon, which is off road and came 8th overall in a time of 3.36.36. Also running was Spencer Rolls who finished in 5.18.
Then Marathon Man Jim Mundy ran in the Neolithic Marathon in a time of 3.56.00. This year Jim is planning to complete 10 Marathons in 10 Days, he achieved this last year but has decided to do it all over again. He will run in the Brathay Challenge commencing on 9 May. There are 11 people in total starting this challenge, 3 of which are women. It takes place round Lake Windermere and finishes with the Windermere Marathon on 18 May. Good luck Marathon Man Jim.

Ten members of Sutton Runners took part in the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial on Saturday 26 April, two taking part for the first time, Mark Aldred completed in 22.52 and Rachel Lydon in 27.32 and another member, Claire Ballhatchet, achieving a PB in 25.43. Other runners were Peter Nixon 19.17, who came in 11th, Therese Panetta 23.13, Steven Barber 23.37, Kaye Benjamin 26.58, Steven Clarke 27.36, Patricia Cue 34.32 and Pauline Woodman in 35.12.
Two members ran in yet another marathon on Sunday, this time taking part in the Shakespeare Marathon. Dave Ross came in 12th position in a time of 2.59.29 and Jim Mundy who ran in 3.58.02.

Three members of Sutton Runners, two of whom had taken part in last weeks London Marathon, decided to stretch their legs and run in the Bath Beat (off road) 26.5 miles race on Saturday 19 April. Dave Ross completed it in 5.25 and Jim Mundy in 6.33, also running with them was Yin-Hai Cheung who ran in a time of 6.33.
Also on Saturday the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial was run and 7 members took part. Peter Nixon came 11th overall in a time of 19.56, followed by Tony Gallagher 21.46, Jenny Sinfield 23.01, Steven Clarke 27.53, Kaye Benjamin 28.16, Emilia Freegard 32.49, Patricia Cue 32.57.

Sutton Runners had 26 members running in Sunday's London Marathon. Some running their first marathon, others seasoned veterans (Dave Ross and Jim Mundy), and some achieving some excellent PBs. The first member across the line was Luis Gomez who came in 472 overall position in an excellent time of 2.49.50. Dave Ross decided to run in a very heavy Scottish kilt but still managed to run in 3.02.38, followed by Martin Giles in 3.05.50. For first timer Jon Trehearn he managed a great run and finished in 3.06.42. The first Sutton Runner female to finish was Andrea Francis who ran a PB of 12½ minutes in 3.27.30. Other runners were Jim Mundy 3.28.45, Graham Miller 3.42.53, Steve Wise 3.45.49, Neal Richardson 3.48.11, Barbara Burnett 3.57.04, Adam Jarosz 4.05.05, Mark Aldred had a fantastic race and ran a PB of 35 mins in 4.07.00, Anne Davidson 4.07.14, Lauren Jones 4.12.25, Tony Gallagher 4.31.09, Alan Purvey 4.36.16, Tricia Moore 4.42.47, first timer Jane Gibbs ran in 4.54.12, Stewart Howe 5.02.09, another first time marathon runner was Wendy Wakelin who ran in 5.02.13, Emilia Freegard 5.06.04, Gary Reading 5.24.45, Paul Bannister 5.51.43, a PB of 30 mins was achieved by Carolyn Dale in 5.51.57, Dennis Cresswell 5.59.31 and another first timer was Katerina Tulloch who achieved 6.20.42. Well done to all the club runners who many were also raising money for charity.

On Saturday 12 April five members took part in the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial, they were Darren Ford who ran a very quick time and completed in 21.15 followed by Therese Panetta in 23.36, Claire Ballhatchet 26.08 and Pauline Woodman 34.36.

Seven Sutton Runners took part in the weekly Banstead Woods 5k time trial with three runnings personal best times; Claire Ballhatchet in 25.55, Kaye Benjamin in 26.38 and Mary Lamont in 28.24. The other runners and times were Tony Gallagher 21.51, Theresa Panetta 23.30, Pauline Woodman 33.48 and Patricia Cue in 35.00.
Then on Sunday 6 April in the Towpath 10 miles race Elinor Caborn ran an outstanding race and came 2nd lady overall in a time of 63.34. Followed by Jim Mundy in 40th place in a time of 67.46. Also running was Yin-Hai Cheung who ran a PB in 78.43. In Suffolk Dave Ross, who's on his road to his 100th marathon, ran the Bungay Black Dog Marathon and came 1st MV40 completing in a time of 3.00.53.

On Saturday 29 March, Sutton Runners took part in two completely different races. First was the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial. Andrew Nippard had a very good run as this was his first time trail and he not only finished in a fast time of 18.54 but also managed to came in 8th place.
Another runner who had a great race was Greg Bryant who ran a PB in 25.53.
Other Sutton Runners taking part were; Therese Panetta 23.38, Claire Ballhatchet 26.33, Kaye Benjamin 26.53, Patricia Cue 33.15 and Pauline Woodman 34.57
Then over in Crawley, Jim Mundy took part in the Crawley 12 Hour Track Challenge. Whilst many of the club are training for a Marathon distance, Jim ran 56 miles, approximately 225 laps, which included 22 miles escorting a visually impaired runner. Well done Jim. What an achievement.
Then on Sunday there were three different races for Sutton. Two members achived fantastic times in the Wimbeldon 10k. Martin Newton came 19th in 35.38 followed by Elinor Caborn in 37.30. Both finished with smiles on their faces as they both ran Personal Best times.
Whilst in Kingston the 2 lap race covering 16 miles was run by four members. Anne Davidson in a time of 2hr 14m, followed by Barbara Burnett in 2hrs 20m and then Mark Asten in 2hrs 35m and Emilia Freegard in 2hrs 46m.
The furthest traveller was Dave Ross, who took part in the Bratislava Marathon and came in 25th position in a time of 2.54.31, this was also a Personal Best time for Dave. Well Done.

On Saturday 22nd March, members of Sutton Runners took part in two very different races. First was the weekly Banstead Woods Time Trial of 5k, Terry Tysoe took part for the very first time and finished in an impressive 22.35, followed by Pauline Woodman who ran in 35.11 and then following not far behind was Emilia Freegard in 35.46. The other race on Saturday was quite a bit further and covered 40 miles, it was the Compton Downland Challenge and again three members took part. Dave Ross ran an outstanding race to finish in 4th place (1st MV40) in a time of 6hrs 10.
Two other members also had superb runs, they were Yin Hai-Cheung who was 2nd lady overall and came across the line in a time of 8hrs 34, along with fellow member Jim Mundy also in 8hrs 34.

This weekend various members of Sutton Runners took part in no less than 8 different races ranging from the Sports Relief Mile to a Marathon in Rome.
On Saturday 15 March the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial took place and two members took part and both achieved personal best times, they were Pete Sturton who finished 7th overall in a time of 19.38 and Kaye Benjamin who came 64th and finished in 26.43.
Then the Legal & General Sports Relief Mile was ran by Ian Woods who finished in a fantastic time of 6 mins 20 sec.
Also on Saturday the Ballbuster Duathlon event was staged. This race takes over Box Hill, a total of 5 times with each loop being 8 miles long; 2 on foot and 3 in the saddle. It is a severe test of stamina and is equivalent to running a marathon. Many fail each year! However two Sutton Runners members didn't fail and achieved great results over such a tough course. Vero Bringlow finished 6th lady overall (1st LV40) in a time of 3.20.22 followed closely in 10th place by Vicky Foad in 3.29.23. Well done to both.
The following day on Sunday 16 March the club were split amongst a number of different races. First Martin Newton took part in the Eastleigh 10k and finished in a time of 36.54. Whilst in the south at the Hastings Half Marathon, Gary Reading completed in a time of 2.08.
Not as far south at Cranleigh, the annual Cranleigh 15/21 mile race took place. All participants have a choice of doing either 15 miles or 21 miles, but due to the London Marathon training, all the Sutton Runners decided on the 21 mile race and their results were very impressive. First Sutton Runner home was Pete Sturton who finished in a time of 2.29, then followed by Steve Wise in 2.38, Jonathan Senker 2.39, Andrea Francis 2.44, Graham Miller 2.46, Lauren Jones 2.57, Anne Davidson 3.06, Barbara Burnett 3.14, Alan Purvey 3.20, Stewart Howe 3.49 followed closely by Wendy Wakelin.
Another race was the Wendover Woods (off road) Marathon and Dave Ross who is heading for his 100th Marathon, performed an outstanding run and came 5th overall in a time of 4.55.
Whilst the furthest race a member ran in was in Rome where Jim Mundy on his mission to achieve 16 marathons in 6 weeks ending with London ran in 3.42.09 followed closely by Neal Richardson in 3.53.41.

An unusally quite weekend of racing for members of Sutton Runners, although 5 members did take part in the weekly Banstead Woods 5k time trials on Saturday 8 March. In 11th place was Dave Ross who finished in a time of 19.42. Taking part in their first time trial was Ian Woods who achieved a time of 22.43, he was followed by Kaye Benjamin 27.20, Steven Clarke 27.24 and Patricia Cue 31.44.

A very busy weekend of races for the members of Sutton Runners ranging in distance from 5k to Marathon with eight members enjoying the racing even more as they achieved Personal Best times.
On Saturday the weekly Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial took place where three members ran PBs. They were Peter Nixon 18.54 PB, Jenny Sinfield 23.19 PB and Claire Ballhatchet 26.08 PB. Other runners were Kaye Benjamin 27.10, Patricia Cue 30.59 and Pauline Woodman 35.13
Then on Sunday the club was split amongst a number of different races.
In Battersea 10 Jonathan Senker who finished 7th overall and ran a PB time of 67.57.
Whilst in the Reading Half Marathon where over 11000 runners took part, amongst them were nine members of Sutton Runners. A PB by Andrew Nippard who ran in 1.21.04, Martin Newton 1.23.30, Elinor Caborn 1.25.18, Steve Wise 1.32.46, Graham Miller ran a PB in 1.35.50, Andrea Francis 1.36.07, Tony Gallagher 1.38.47, Patricia Moore 2.05.56 and Nicky Miles 2.07.38.
Along a windy seafront in Eastbourne six members took part in the Half Marathon. They were Martin Giles who came 12th overall in a time of 1.26.12. Also running were Barbara Burnett who finished in 1.53.18, then a very happy Mark Asten as he finished in a PB time of 1.56.32 followed by Stewart Howe 2.04.54, Wendy Wakelin who was running in her first ever Half Marathon and completed in a time of 2.08.59, and following not far behind was Mark Staples in 2.10.04.
Then up in Milton Keynes Therese Pannetta ran the Half Marathon in a PB time of 1.41.00.
The longest race of the weekend where 2 members of Sutton Runners took part was the Steyning Stinger Marathon and coming 3rd place overall was Dave Ross in 3.25 and then came Spencer Rolls in 5.30.

On Saturday 23 February, ten members of Sutton Runners took part in the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial, two members competing for the first time and one member achieveing a PB. The runners were Steven Barber in 20.18, and then their first attempt at this race was Vicky Foad in 20.19. Followed by Jim Mundy 20.56, Neal Richardson 21.13, Therese Panetta 24.00, Kaye Benjamin in a PB time of 27.01, Patricia Cue 30.17, Louise Bryant-Cue 34.23, Pauline Woodman 34.31, and another first timer was Mary Lamont in 35.32.
Then on Sunday the Tunbridge Wells half-marathon was completed by Jim Mundy in 1.36.09, Neal Richardson, 1.42.19 and Yin Hai-Cheung who ran a PB in 1.44.52.
Also on Sunday, Dave Ross took part in the Devon Coastal Marathon and came 5th overall in a time of 4.09.00.

On Saturday 9 February, nine members of Sutton Runners took part in the mens Cross Country at Lloyd Park. The team was made up of Martin Giles who finsihed in a time of 32.05, Andrew Nippard 33.39, Kevin Stroud 35.58, Steve Barber 37.54, Charles Green 39.01, Jim Mundy 40.12, Neal Richardson 40.43, Graham Miller 42.27, and Tony Gallagher 45.46.
Then over this weekend a variety of races from 5k upto Marathon distance were run by various members of Sutton Runners.
On Saturday 16 February the weekly running of the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial took place. Peter Nixon came in 7th place overall in a time of 19.20, followed in 12th place by Steven Barber who achieved a PB in 20.12. Taking part in their first time trial was Claire Ballhatchet who finished in a time of 26.11. Other runners were Therese Panetta 23.31, Steven Clark 26.30, Kaye Benjamin 27.19,and Patricia Cue in 30.15.
Then on Sundar in Brighton three members ran the Sussex Beacon half-marathon. They were Vero Bringlow in 1.28.26, Vicky Foad 1.31.57 and Neal Richardson 1.40.11.
Whilst at the Draycote Water Marathon three members took part. Dave Ross ran a great race and came 1st MV40 and 4th overall in a time of 3.01.00. Followed by Jim Mundy who finished in 3:49:50. Another great achivement was by Yin-Hai Cheung who was running in her 20th marathon and achieved a PB time of 3.50.38.

A very busy weekend of races for the members of Sutton Runners and a high standard and great results were achieved.
On Saturday 9 February the final Ladies Cross Country race took place in Richmond Park. Elinor Caborn had a very time of 22.36 and came 2nd overall. She was followed in 6th place by Vicky Foad in 23.36 and in 11th place Vero Bringlow in 24.22, then in 13th place was Liz Davies in 24.42. They were followed by Andrea Francis 26.03, Lauren Jones 27.02, Kate Warren Butt 27.05, Therese Panetta 27.53 and Claire Ballhatchet in 31.36. The ladies team had a fantastic race overall and came 1st, which means that as they finished 2nd place after all four Cross Country races they have achieved a promotion into Division 1.
Also on Satuday the club had four members competing in the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trials. They were Dave Huck who came 1st overall in a fantastic time of 18.37, followed by Steven Clarke who finished in 27.08, Kaye Benjamin 27.29 and Patricia Cue 31.34.
Then on Sunday the Valentines 10k took place and 18 members of Sutton Runners took part. In 12th position was Chris Coles in a superb time of 36.24 followed in 13th place by Martin Newton in 36.32, then by Peter Dixon in 37.55, Kevin Stroud 38.18. The 1st lady home was Vicky Foad who had a very good run and finished in a time of 40.20. Other runners were Therese Panetta 45.55, Alan Purvey 47.30, Anne Davidson 48.49, Gillian Fry 54.01, Karen Rogers 55.44, Lynn Hickey 55.45, Kaye Benjamin 55.50, Caroline Gravestock 62.39, Micheala Moher 62.40, Pauline Woodman 69.10, Katrina Tulloch 69.59, Geraldine Richardson 71.51 and Carolyn Dale 72.19. Another excellent result for the ladies of Sutton Runners as they achieved 1st team position.
Other races that were run on Sunday were the Wokingham half-marathon and two members ran; Stephen Wise finished in 1.27.14 and Neal Richardson in 1.41.36. Whilst at Nonsuch Park in Cheam the 10k Race was run and Barbara Burnett finished in a time of 53.44.
Not forgetting the Ultra Race of 30miles called the Devils Punchbowl and 3 brave members took part with very good finisheing times. They were Dave Ross in 5.03, Yin-Hai Cheung 6.22 along with Jim Mundy 6.22.

On Saturday 2nd Feb five members of Sutton Runners took part in the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial where two managed to run the course and perform personal best times. They were Peter Nixon in 19.07 who came 14th overall who was followed in 22nd place by Darran Ford in a time of 20.17. The other runners were Therese Panetta 23.24, Kaye Benjamin 27.36 and Patricia Cue in 31.46.
Jonathan Senker achieved a personal best time of 1.31.18 in the Watford Half Marathon on Sunday 3 February.

A fantastic weekend of races for members of Sutton Runners, some taking part not only in races on Saturday, but then ran races on Sunday as well. On Saturday 26 January saw the weekly Banstead Woods 5k time trial. Kevin Stroud came 9th overall and ran a personal best time of 19.07, running it for the first time was Steven Barber who ran in 20.34. Other Sutton Runners were Peter Nixon in a time of 19.10, Peter Sturton 19.59, Therese Panetta 23.47, Greg Bryant 25.36, Kaye Benjamin 27.20, Patricia Cue 32.45 and Pauline Woodman 35.32.
Elinor Caborn took part in the Southern Cross Country Championships Parliament Hill and came 63rd in a time of 37.52.
The final race on Saturday was the Portland Marathon and two of the club members took part. Dave Ross had a fantastic run and came 2nd (1st MV40) in a time of 3.43.00, whilst Jim Mundy ran in 4.36.00. But then after achieving superb times on Saturday they both then took part in races on Sunday. Dave ran the Gloucester 50km ultra race and finished in 4.33.00 and Jim ran in the Gloucester Marathon and finished in 3.54.00.
Also on Sunday the Perch Epsom Downs 6.25mile Race took place and members of Sutton Runners club ran and achieved great times. The ladies team came 1st overall and was made up of Vicky Foad who completed in a time of 42.41 and was the 3rd lady overall, Vero Bringlow in 44.18 and Therese Panetta in 49.21. The mens team came 7th and was made up of Martin Giles who ran a time of 39.02 and came 9th overall, Stephen Wise 43.34 and Peter Sturton in 43.36. Also competing were Martin Asten who ran a Personal Best time of 52.09 and Anne Davidson who ran in 52.27.
Whist in Canterbury the 10mile road race was taking place and two members made the journey to take part. Chris Cole came in 22nd place in a time of 59.57 and Andrew Nippard achieved a personal best time of 61.44 and came 32nd overall. Outstanding achievements as there was over a thousand runners in the race.

Sutton Runners Men’s team took part in the Cross Country in Richmond Park on Saturday 12th January and the results have now been published. The team came 9th on the day and are currently in position 9 in the cross country event with one race remaining. The team consisted of Chris Coles who completed in a time of 30:59, Andrew Nippard 31:49, Martin Newton 32:00, Kevin Stroud 33:02, Dave Ross 33:03, Charles Green 34:32, Steve Barber 35:32, Tony Gallagher 36:37, Graham Miller 38:36, Alan Purvey 40:36 and Mark Asten 43:25.
Over the weekend of 19 & 20 January, Sutton Runners members took part in races varying in distances from 5k time trials to half marathons to 50 mile ultra races.
On Saturday 19 January, 13 members took part in the Banstead Wood 5k Time Trials. Peter Nixon came 6th overall in a time of 19.10. Two members achieved personal best times, they were Yin-Hai Cheung in 23:37 and Karen Rogers in a time of 27.47. Charles Green completed the race alongside his 11 year old daughter Kate, and they both ran in 24.40. Other Sutton Runners were Kevin Stroud 19:28, David Ross 20:22, Jim Mundy 21:18, Therese Panetta 23:52, Greg Bryant 26.19, Kaye Benjamin 28.04, Steven Clarke 28.25 and Patricia Cue 33.54.
Over at Wimbledon Common 5k time trial Chris Coles had a spectacular race and came 3rd overall in a time 18:37.
The 50 miles was completed by Spencer Rolls who took part in the Thames Path Ultra race and he accomplished a finishing time of 11 hours, 2 minutes.
Then Sunday 20 January was the York Half Marathon and running for Sutton Runners was Steven Barber who completed in a time of 1.45.39.

Another busy weekend of races for the members of Sutton Runners. On Saturday 12 January, five members took part in the Banstead Woods 5k Time Trial. They were Therese Panetta in 24:15, Steven Clarke 27:10, Kaye Benjamin completed in a personal best time of 27:10. Two of the runners took part for the first time, they were Caroline Gravestock in 30:17 and Carolyn Dale in 36:45.
Also on Saturday the third race in the Surrey Cross Country series took place. The women's A Team came 2nd overall. They were led by Elinor Caborn who came 4th in a time of 25.25, followed by Vero Bringlow in 26.51, Vicky Foad 27.29, Andrea Francis 29.21 and Kate Warren Butt in 31.15. The B Team came in 26th place led by Therese Panetta, who came straight from the Banstead Woods race to finish in a time of 32.48, also part of the team was Nicky Mills completing in 39.17. With one race left in this Cross Country series, Sutton Runners ladies team are in 2nd place overall.
Then on Sunday two other members took part in two completely different events. Jim Mundy travelled all the way to Belgium to take part in the Genk Marathon and completed in a time of 3:28:36. Dave Ross took part in the Winter Tanners 30-mile challenge which took place in the Surrey hills. He completed in 7hrs 22mins.

Races galore for Sutton Runners to bring in the New Year.
A number of Sutton Runners brought in the new year with a variety of different races. On New Years Day the very popular Banstead Woods 5k time trial took place and amongst the Sutton Runners who ran, 4 achieved personal best times, they were: Gary Wood in 20.18, Neal Richardson 21.02, Anita Hedges 24.36 and Kaye Benhamin in 27.53. Other members who took part were, Tony Gallagher 21.55, Therese Panetta 23.38, Mark Asten 25.25 and Stewart Howe 26.35.
Another race on New Years Day was the Serpentine 10k where 2 members took part; Jim Mundy was the 1st male v55 and completed in 42.48 and Yin-Hai Cheung achieved a personal best time of 47.16.
On Saturday 5 January, there were 2 different races. The Banstead Woods 5k time trial, where Kevin Stroud gave an outstanding performance to win the race in a time of 19.33, and Greg Bryant also ran and came in 53rd place in a time of 28.05. Also on Saturday the Surrey Cross Country Championships was held in Lloyd Park. In the ladies race, Elinor Caborn finished in 13th place in a time of 36.30 followed in 26th place by Vero Bringlow in 38.37 and the mens race saw Martin Newton finish in 64th place in a time of 54.15. Whilst over at the 100 Marathon Club AGM Handicap Marathon Jim Mundy completed in 3hr 48m.

To work up an appetite for their Christmas dinners, fourteen members of Sutton Runners took part in races on Christmas morning. Steven Barber completed the Bushy Park 5k time-trial in 26.06 and Claire Ballhatchet in 26.18. Whereas over at the Banstead Woods 5k time-trial Jonathan Senker took part in his first 5k and completed in a very respectful time of 20.31, another runner who had a early Christmas present was Yin-Hai Cheung who ran a personal best time of 24.04, other Sutton runners were; Chris Catt 18.32, Steve Wise 21.10, Neal Richardson 21.21, Jim Mundy 21.24, Vero Bringlow 21.36, Chris Benjamin 23.48, Therese Panetta 23.54, Gayle Catt 32.34, Kaye Benjamin 33.29, Pauline Woodman 35.56.

This weekend there were two races that members of Sutton Runners took part in. On Saturday the Banstead Woods 5km time-trial where Charles Green took part for the first time and completed in 24.05. The other Sutton Runners were Steven Clarke 28.17, Kaye Benjamin 30.21 and Tricia Cue 32.43.
Then on Sunday, 13 members of Sutton Runners braved the misty and cold weather to take part in the last of the Lara Series 10km in Horton Park. Where two members of the club took prizes; Martin Newton came 1st male 45+ in 36.25 and Vicky Foad took 2nd senior ladies place in 41.25. The other Sutton Runners were Andrew Nippard 37.04, Elinor Caborn 39.19, Steve Wise 39.45, Vero Bringlow 42.00, Neal Richardson 42.32, Andrea Francis 44.59, Lauren Jones 46.02, Anne Davidson 49.23, Wendy Wakelin 52.55, Mark Asten 57.04 and Emilia Freegard 61.59.

7 members of Sutton Runners took part in the Banstead Woods 5K Time Trial on Saturday in very cold conditions. Steve Wise was the 1st in for the club in 20.39 in 15th position; followed by Gary Wood running his first time trial event and finishing 17th in 20.59. Neal Richardson ran a PB for the course finishing 19th in 21.10 with Jim Mundy 23rd in 21.46. Sutton Runners’ Dave Ross, Darran Ford and Neal Richardson battled through the wind and the rain at Sunday’s Luton Marathon. Ross was first to complete the 26.2 mile multi-lap event (29th) in 3 hours, 9 minutes and 18 seconds with Ford (171st) finishing in 3.15.18 (pb) and Richardson crossing the line (283rd) in 3.55.58.
Martin Giles was part of the field at the Regent’s Park 10k, also on Sunday, the results of which were not available at the time of going to press.
On Saturday, club member Lisa Brignull took part in the Luxmore Grunt 27k race in New Zealand, finishing 1st lady in the event (8th overall) in 2 hours 38 minutes and 28 seconds.
Peter Nixon was first Sutton Runner at Saturday’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial (5th) with a time of 19 minutes and 11 seconds. Steve Wise was next (12th) 20.31, followed by Therese Panetta (30th) 23.13, Stewart Howe (42nd) 25.46, Kaye Benjamin (55th) 28.22, Tricia Cue (65th) 30.09 and Louise Bryant-Cue (76th) 37.43.

Sutton Runners’ long-distance man, Dave Ross was in top form at Sunday’s Gatliffe 30 mile race, finishing the tough event in a highly respectable time of 5 hours and 40 minutes.
Also on Sunday, Jim Mundy and Yin-Hai Cheung were in Benidorm tackling the local marathon, and finishing the 26.2 mile race in 3 hours 55 minutes and 20 seconds, and 3.58.32 (personal best) respectively.
Chris Catt led Sutton’s competitors in Saturday’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial, with 3rd place in 18 minutes and 28 seconds. Kevin Stroud was next to finish (7th) in 19.09, followed by Peter Nixon (11th) 19.18, Therese Panetta (45th) 23.36, Stewart Howe (57th) 25.24, Kaye Benjamin (73rd) 29.09, Gayle Catt (85th) 31.22, Tricia Cue (91st) 36.19 and Louise Bryant-Cue (92nd) 39.05.

The strong winds made it difficult for runners at the Brooks Brighton 10k on the seafront on Sunday morning. Sutton Runners had 2 entrants in the field of 3,000, Martin Newton finishing 97th in 37 minutes and 35 seconds, in front of Martin Giles (188th) 39.20.
Club member Lisa Brignull placed 2nd in the Tai Tapu Half-Marathon in New Zealand, registering a time of 1 hour 32 minutes and 53 seconds.
There was another fine turn-out from Sutton Runners at the Banstead Wood 5k time-trial on Saturday morning. Elinor Caborn claimed 4th place in 22 minutes and 18 seconds at Cranford on Saturday as Sutton Runners’ ladies continued their solid start to the season in the Surrey Cross Country League. Team captain, Vicky Foad was next (11th) 23.12, followed by Vero Bringlow (19th) 24.08, Lauren Jones (39th) 26.42, Therese Panetta (47th) 27.06, Kathryn Chisholm (75th) 29.13, Wendy Wakelin (85th) 30.01, Claire Ballhatchet (95th) 31.08, Nicky Miles (100th) 31.47 and Kaye Benjamin (108th) 32.58. Sutton finished 2nd team overall.
The men’s team were at Epsom Downs for their league match and were headed home by Martin Giles. Chris Coles was next to finish in front of Chris Catt, Martin Newton, Dave Huck, Kevin Stroud, Steve Wise, Steve Barber, Ian Killick, Jonathan Senker, Peter Sturton, Graham Miller and Mark Asten.
Sutton’s Dave Ross finished 10th on Sunday at the 5 to Go trail marathon in Hertfordshire. Ross’s time over the 26.2 mile distance was 3 hours, 5 minutes and 40 seconds. The club’s second entrant in the event was Jim Mundy.
Louise Bryant-Cue placed 62nd in 30 minutes and 27 seconds at Saturday’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial, in front of Tricia Cue (70th) 33.39.

Sutton marathon expert Dave Ross has been in action over the 26.2 mile distance twice in the space of 5 days. At the Dublin Marathon last Monday, Ross finished in 475th position in 3 hours, thirteen minutes and 32 seconds, in front of colleagues Jim Mundy (2939th) 3.56.12 and Anne Davidson (3,843rd) 4.08.58. On Sunday, Ross was in Athens for the Classic Marathon, completing the race in 3.07, with Yin-Hai Cheung stopping the clock in 4.05.00.
Chris Coles led Sutton’s entrants at the second stage of the Surrey Classic Series at Nonsuch Park on Sunday morning, finishing the 10k race in 11th position in 36 minutes and 18 seconds, in front of Martin Newton (14th) 36.32. The club’s first lady finisher was Elinor Caborn (36th) 39.00, followed by Steve Wise (39th) 39.15, Vicky Foad (54th) 40.43, Vero Bringlow (75th) 42.39, Kevin Stroud (76th) 42.40, Andrea Francis (95th) 44.20, Lauren Jones (122nd) 46.28, Barbara Burnett (169th) 49.41, Mark Asten (186th) 53.05 and Stephen Clarke (205th) 55.46.

Joe Farrugia was Sutton Runners’ top placed entrant in Sunday’s Great South Run at Portsmouth, finishing 3,005th in 1 hour, 25 minutes and 1 second. Michele Qualtrough was the club’s first lady (9,243rd) 1.50.41, followed by Sarah Westall (10,537th) 2.02.18 and Katerina Tulloch (10, 661st) 2.04.04.
In the Barns Green Half-Marathon in Sussex, Sutton’s Therese Panetta finished in 1 hour, 42 minutes and 21 seconds.
Dave Ross placed 30th in the tough Beachy Head Marathon on Sunday, stopping the clock at 3 hours and 34 minutes, in front of Spencer Rolls who completed the 26.2 miles in 5.05.00.
Sutton had 10 members at the first leg of the Surrey Classic Series at Oxshott on Sunday morning. Martin Newton was first home (17th) in a time of 37 minutes and 33 seconds, followed by Steve Wise (38th) 40.02 and Ian Killick (58th) 41.54. Andrew Nippard of Sutton Runners smashed his personal best time for 10k by 2 minutes at the Audi Wimbledon 10k on Sunday morning. On an ideal morning for racing, Nippard’s time of 35 minutes and 27 seconds earned him 5th place, 1 behind team mate Martin Giles (4th and 1st MV40 ) in 35.17, and with club colleague Martin Newton finishing (11th) in 36.44, Sutton were comfortable winners of the team prize.
At the Croydon 10k, Luis Gomez kept up his consistently good form with 11th position (1st MV40) in a time of 34.27. The excellent conditions again played a part with an astonishing 6 out of the club’s 10 members competing registering personal bests for the distance. Peter Nixon was first to better his previous best time (29th) 38.18 (pb), in front of Steve Barber (75th) 42.16 (pb), Anne Davidson (191st) 48.31, Kathryn Chisholm (215th) 49.49, Joe Farrugia (226th) 50.45 (pb), Wendy Wakelin (238th) 50.54 (pb), Claire Ballhatchet (241st) 51.36 (pb), Stewart Howe (250th) 51.00 and Trevor Simons (273rd) 52.26 (pb).
In the Amsterdam Marathon, a great performance from Dave Ross saw him home in 338th place in 2 hours, 58 minutes and 56 seconds. Jonathan Trehearn took part in the Half-Marathon, gaining 43rd position in 1.17.58.
Club member Garrett Campbell took part in the Credit Union 5k in Jamaica, finishing in 32 minutes and 45 seconds.

Sutton Runners’ ladies powered to a second place finish in their first Surrey Cross Country fixture of the season at West End Common, Esher on Saturday. Sutton were led home by Elinor Caborn (2nd) in 29 minutes and 9 seconds, in front of team captain Vicky Foad (11th) 31.04, Vero Bringlow (15th) 31.52, Andrea Frances (21st) 33.06, Lauren Jones (38th) 34.51, Therese Panetta (48th) 35.43, Wendy Wakelin (67th) 38.02, Kathryn Chisholm (84th) 39.59 and Claire Ballhatchet (97th) 41.22.
The men’s team were well under-strength at their match in Richmond Park, hampered by illness, injury and non-availability. The sterling efforts of Martin Giles (18th) 30.17, Andrew Nippard (33rd) 31.43, Steven Barber (86th) 35.40, Geoff Butson (91st) 35.55, Steve Wise (108th) 37.50 and Graham Miller (113th) 38.57 could not prevent the team from finishing in bottom place on the day.
A number of club members were also involved in the action at the Cabbage Patch 10 mile race in Twickenham on Sunday morning. Sutton Runners were represented at the Chichester Priory 10k in West Sussex on Sunday morning. The race, which included the AAA and SEAA Championships, attracted a high quality field from around the country. In a field of 1,000, club member Martin Newton finished 162nd in 36 minutes and 53 seconds.
Steve Wise was part of the action at the Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday. The race, renowned for its scenery, also takes place over a testing course and a fine effort from Wise over the 26.2 miles earned him an excellent finishing time of 3 hours 24 minutes and 30 seconds.
Neal Richardson placed 28th in Saturday morning’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial in a time of 21 minutes and 42 seconds. Therese Panetta was next for Sutton (35th) 2.50, followed by Micky Trumper (44th) 26.22, Stephen Clarke (47th) 26.48, Nicky Miles (52nd) 27.35, Kaye Benjamin (55th) 29.02 and Tricia Cue (60th) 31.15.
Next weekend, Sutton Runners hit the cross-country trail again, with the first races of the 2007/08 season in the Surrey Cross Country Leagues. The men’s fixture takes place at Richmond Park, with the ladies’ match at West End Common, Esher.

Darran Ford was in impressive form for Sutton Runners at the Great North Run on Sunday. Ford’s time of 1 hour 30 minutes and 48 seconds in the 13.1 mile race saw him finish in 768th position in the large field. Kathryn Chisholm was next (9,503rd) in 1.56.30, in front of Mark Asten (10,706th) 1.58.22 and Michele Qualtrough (28,533rd) 2.34.17.
Sutton had representatives in 2 European marathons at the weekend. In Hungary, Dave Ross placed 47th in the Budapest Marathon with an excellent run over the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours 56 minutes and 31 seconds, followed by Jonathan Senker (341st) 3.28.24. Meanwhile, in Germany, Jim Mundy was enjoying the action in the Berlin Marathon where he stopped the clock in 3.43.22 (8,685th).
Closer to home, Martin Newton competed in Friday lunch-time’s Hyde Park 5k, around the Serpentine, finishing 14th in 18 minutes and 13 seconds.

Marathon ace Jim Mundy, from Sutton Runners, reached another remarkable milestone when he completed his 100th marathon in the New Forest on Sunday. Mundy, who earlier this year wrote himself into the record books after running an incredible 7 marathons in 7 days in the Lake District, lined up with a number of club colleagues competing in events to celebrate his latest achievement over both 26.2 miles and 13.1 miles.
In the marathon itself, Dave Ross was first to finish for Sutton (18th) in 3 hours 5 minutes and 57 seconds, followed by Ian Killick (92nd) 3.35.25, Graham Miller (121st) 3.40.23, Neal Richardson (210th) 3.58.22, Jim Mundy (227th) 4.01.21 and Yin-Hai Cheung 4.09.01. Sutton’s men came 4th in the team event.
Chris Coles led Sutton home in the half-marathon (15th), completing the distance in 1 hour 22 minutes and 45 seconds in front of Steve Wise (78th) 1.33.16, Vicky Foad (79th) 1.33.09, Andy Pronger (93rd) 1.34.07 and Andrea Francis (140th) 1.38.11. Club President Glenn Woodman was next (149th) 138.22, followed by Lauren Jones (255th) 1.43.32, Joe Farrugia (525th) 1.52.32, Jolanta Kandefer (736th) 1.59.01, Garrett Campbell (1388th) 2.31.36 and Geraldine Richardson (1433) 2.39.32. The club claimed 3rd place in the men’s team event and 4th place in the women’s team event.

A fantastic team effort from Sutton Runners’ men saw them clinch 5th place in last Saturday’s Surrey County Road Relays, run over a 3 mile undulating course at Wimbledon Park. Luis Gomez led the team off with a blistering 15 minute 47 second first leg, before handing over to team captain Chris Coles (16.21), then Martin Newton (16.56). Mike Treadwell took over for the fourth circuit (16.30), followed by Andrew Nippard (16.33), before Harry Martin’s superb final run (15.55) brought the team home in an aggregate time of 1 hour 38 minutes and 2 seconds. There was more reason for celebration as the time by Luis Gomez on the first leg was the quickest by a MV40 on the day.
Dave Ross warmed up for next week’s New Forest Marathon with a 19 minutes and 11 seconds run to finish 6th at Saturday’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial. In Berkshire, Martin Newton took part in the multi-terrain Reading O2 10k, run on paths, tracks and grass, finishing in 38 minutes and 5 seconds.

Peter Sturton was the star turn for Sutton Runners at Sunday’s Henfield Half-Marathon in West Sussex. Making the most of the cool conditions, Sturton claimed 41st place for the club in a time of 1 hour 36 minutes and 43 seconds. Steve Wise was next to finish (62nd) in 1.40.52, in front of marathon ace Jim Mundy (73rd) 1.43.23, Graham Miller (76th) 143.50 and Neal Richardson (91st) 1.46.03.
John Sawyer was in Northamptonshire for the Blisworth 5 mile race and came home in 197th position in 42 minutes and 22 seconds.

Martin Giles was next (31st) 17.29, followed by Andrew Nippard (40th) 18.01, Jim Mundy (89th) 20.14, John Rawlinson (104th) 21.03, Glenn Woodman (105th) 21.09 and John Sawyer (199th) 28.53. Vicky Foad was first to finish for the ladies (87th) 20.13, in front of Kathryn Chisholm (156th) 24.05, Barbara Burnett (161st) 24.42, Claire Ballhatchet (164th) 24.45 and Karen Rogers (195th) 28.16. The men’s team placed 7th overall with the ladies’ team 8th in their category.
Mark Staples and Mark Asten took part in the Clapham Common 10k, finishing in 47 minutes and 40 seconds and 53 minutes and 16 seconds respectively.
At Salisbury in Wiltshire, Dave Ross was in action at the 5-4-3-2-1 marathon on Sunday, completing the race in 3 hours and 26 minutes in front of Sutton colleague Spencer Rolls, who claimed a personal best time for the 26.2 mile distance with his time of 4 hours and 49 minutes.
Sutton’s men finished third in last week’s Horton Park relays at Epsom in 31 minutes and 15 seconds (Jon Trehearn (7.31), Chris Catt (8.05), Luis Gomez (7.41) and Chris Coles (7.58)), with the ladies’ second in their category in 38.25 (Kate Warren (10.01), Vicky Foad (9.09), Andrea Francis (9.58) and Elinor Caborn (9.17)).
Jim Mundy was Sutton’s top finisher (16th) at Saturday’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial in 20 minutes and 48 seconds. Tony Gallagher was at Wimbledon Common for the time-trial there, with 90th position in 21.48.

Dave Ross and Spencer Rolls of Sutton Runners took on the notoriously tough 30 mile Ultra Downland Challenge along the South Downs Way in Sussex on Sunday. A strong finish from Ross claimed 11th place in the event in 4 hours and 17 minutes, with Rolls completing the race in 6 hours 31 minutes.

Elinor Caborn was first home for the ladies’ team (140th) in 42 minutes and 14 seconds, in front of Kate Warren (215th) 46.10 and Andrea Francis (218th) 46.24. For the men’s side, Luis Gomez continued his good form (13th) with a time of 35.00, with Jonathan Trehearn next (17th) 35.21 and Martin Giles (27th) 37.05 making up the scoring team. Also on Sunday, distance specialist Dave Ross took part in the difficult off-road Surrey Slog half-marathon, where a strong performance led to 6th place overall in 1 hour, 35 minutes. In Kent, Anita Hedges was in action at the White Oaks Triathlon, completing the 400 metre swim, 16 mile bike ride and 8k run in a combined time of 1 hour, 45 minutes and 35 seconds to finish 26th.
The Elmore 7 took place on Saturday afternoon, over an undulating course around the Chipstead area. Sutton were represented by Neal Richardson (85th) who finished in 53 minutes and 35 seconds and Darren Marshall (96th) 55.40.
There were 10 members of the club at Saturday morning’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial. Sutton’s MV40 and MV50 teams bagged the first prizes in their age categories at last week’s 4 x 1.9 miles Nonsuch Park relays. On a shortened course due to the adverse weather conditions, the MV40 team of Luis Gomez (10.05), Martin Newton (10.25), Steve Wise (11.20) and Ian Killick (11.28) were clear winners in their class with an aggregate time of 43 minutes and 18 seconds. The MV50 team of Glen Woodman, Jim Mundy, John Rawlinson and Peter Sturton finished in 48.35.
11 club members were at Banstead Woods for Saturday’s 5k time-trial. Sutton Runners had competitors in three events held at Dorney in Berkshire over the weekend. On Saturday, Jonathan Trehearn raced to 10th place in the Dorney Dash 10k, in a time of 34 minutes and 53 seconds, in front of Martin Giles (37th) 36.23. The Dorney Sprint Triathlon was held on the same day and Catherine Haines finished the swim, bike and run disciplines in 1 hour, 28 minutes and 6 seconds. On Sunday, the longer Olympic length triathlon took place, with Sutton’s Matt Denmead and Vicky Foad completing the disciplines in 2.26.23 and 2.35.02 respectively.
The Harry Hawkes 8 mile event was held around the Thames Ditton and Kingston area on Sunday and Luis Gomez continued his good recent form with 9th place (3rd MV40) in 45 minutes and 32 seconds. Tricia Cue was next for Sutton (338th) 1.21.42, in front of Kaye Benjamin (340th) 1.21.47.
At the British 10k in central London, Garrett Campbell was the club’s first home in 70.09, followed by Katerina Tulloch 72.00 (pb).
The Bewl 15 mile event takes place in a picturesque part of Sussex. Sutton were represented by 3 members with Jim Mundy first to finish in 1 hour 59 minutes and 7 seconds. Graham Miller was next with a time of 2.08.14, in front of Neal Richardson 2.10.02.
On Sunday, Dave Ross took part in the 30 mile Tanners Marathon in Surrey, finishing in 6 hours and 27 minutes.
Four members of Sutton Runners were in action at Saturday’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial. Therese Panetta placed 29th in 23 minutes and 34 seconds, followed by Stewart Howe (35th) 25.41, Wendy Wakelin (38th) 25.54 and Micky Trumper (45th) 28.12.

Luis Gomez of Sutton Runners powered his way to a 10th place finish at the Dysart Dash 10k at Petersham last Sunday morning. On a course drenched by an early downpour, Gomez produced a time of 34 minutes and 46 seconds to lead the club’s men home in the Surrey Road League fixture in fine fashion. Chris Coles was next (25th) 36.19, followed by Martin Newton (42nd) 37.57, as the team finished a creditable 6th, despite the absence of some of its star performers.
The ladies were similarly missing a number of its best runners, but a strong performance by team captain Vicky Foad (126th) was rewarded with a 42.01 clocking, in front of Wendy Wakelin (297th) 52.43 and Emilia Freegard (369th) 61.24. The ladies’ team placed 12th overall.
The club’s world record holder Jim Mundy competed in his 98th marathon at the Night of Flanders Marathon in Belgium, where another excellent effort saw him complete the 26.2 mile distance in 3 hours 43 minutes and 50 seconds. Meanwhile, Spencer Rolls was in action at the Picnic Marathon at Box Hill, an event billed as the ‘toughest’ marathon in the UK, coming home in 6 hours and 14 minutes.
Last Wednesday evening, Martin Newton finished 19th in the Dulwich 5k in 18 minutes and 29 seconds.
Sutton Runners were again well represented at Saturday morning’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial, with Chris Benjamin leading the way in 13th position in 23 minutes and 12 seconds. A fantastic run by Therese Panetta saw her finish 2nd lady (16th overall) in 23.36, followed by Mickey Trumper (29th) 29.23, Kaye Benjamin (31st) 29.34 and Tricia Cue (33rd) 30.14.

Neal Richardson was on top form for Sutton Runners at last week’s Tour of Epsom event. The series of races is run on 5 consecutive evenings around the Epsom area. Richardson finished 33rd overall, in a combined time for all 5 races of 2 hours, 5 minutes and 36 seconds, in front of colleague Graham Miller (42nd) 2.08.42. Kaye Benjamin was Sutton’s first lady (83rd) 2.41.27, followed by Tricia Cue (85th) 2.42.04. Garrett Campbell was the club’s other representative to finish (97th) in 3.10.30.
Long distance merchant Dave Ross was in action in his home country of South Africa at the weekend, taking part in the 56-mile Comrades Ultra Marathon, where he placed 1,825 in 8 hours, 41 minutes and 55 seconds.
Six Sutton Runners took part in Saturday morning’s Banstead Woods 5k time-trial, led home by Chris Catt, who continued his rehabilitation after a lengthy lay-off at the end of last year by claiming 4th spot in 18 minutes 35 seconds. The improving Greg Bryant was next (40th) 24.54, followed by Wendy Wakelin (48th) 26.53, Kaye Benjamin (56th) 30.30, Tricia Cue (57th) 30.50 and Garrett Campbell (64th) 37.55. At the Bushy Park time-trial, Steven Barber finished 59th in 21.10.

Steven Barber was first for Sutton Runners at Saturday’s Bushy Park 5k time-trial (86th overall) in 21 minutes and 10 seconds, in front of Wendy Wakelin (243rd) 25.43, Karen Rogers (328th) 29.11 and Gerry Richardson (282nd) 35.05. At the Wimbledon Common time-trial, Chris Benjamin (33rd) 22.10 was first for the club, followed by Greg Bryant (45th) 24.29 and Kaye Benjamin (63rd) 27.45.
Anne Davidson and Martin Newton were also in action for Sutton at the weekend over the 10k distance, completing the Epsom National Counties 10k in 51 minutes and 16 seconds, and the Wargrave 10k in Berkshire in 39.38 respectively.

Jonathan Trehearn retained the Sutton Runners’ Club Championship after a thrilling duel with Luis Gomez on Sunday morning. The Championship, run as part of the Dorking 10 mile road race, took place in hot and sunny conditions that were difficult for competitors and Gomez made a breakaway in the first part of the race. However, a later wrong turn for the early leader proved crucial on the testing course, and Trehearn romped home in a time of 59 minutes and 33 seconds, to leave Gomez to claim the 1st MV40 prize as consolation in 60.38.
The ‘on-form’ Vicky Foad was the winner of the ladies’ race in a time of 72.46, edging out Elinor Caborn in 74.15, with Therese Panetta picking up the prize as 1st LV35 with her time of 80.10. John Rawlinson was 1st MV50 in 73.50, whilst Emilia Freegard finished 1st LV45 in 103.49.

Neal and Gerry Richardson of Sutton Runners have been testing their abilities in the USA, taking part in a 5k race in Tupelo, Mississippi. In temperatures of over 80 degrees, Neal’s time of 22 minutes and 31 seconds meant 25th place, with Gerry coming home in 35.30 in 156th position.
At the weekend’s 5k time-trials, Greg Bryant was 51st at Wimbledon Common in 24.24, with Stephen Clarke 70th in 26.35, whilst at Bushy Park, Iain Macnaughton finished 206th in 24.15.

Jim Mundy of Sutton Runners has become a world record holder after completing 10 marathons in 10 days. The achievement, to be formally recognised by Guinness World Records, was part of a fundraising challenge for Brathay Hall Trust. The Trust, a registered charity that delivers personal development programmes with children and young people from across the UK, work in partnership with various national and regional youth agencies in helping children and young people overcome difficulties arising from their personal and social circumstances, and give them the skills to make positive choices about their behaviour and attitude.
The marathon challenge commenced on 11th May and took place around Windermere in the Lake District. Jim’s times on each day were 4.27.52 (11/5), 4.27.02 (12/5), 4.27.58 (13/5), 4.26.02 (14/5), 4.32.22 (15/5), 4.18.58 (16/5), 4.31.08 (17/5), 5.09.08 (18/5), 4.37.29 (19/5) and 4.32.08 (20/5). Sutton Runners were in action at a number of races at the weekend. At the Ranelagh Half-Marathon, a good run saw Jonathan Trehearn place 14th in a time of 1 hour 16 minutes and 50 seconds. Vicky Foad was next for the club (134th) with a personal best time for the 13.1 mile distance of 1.30.51, followed by Neal Richardson (425th) 1.49.09.
Spencer Rolls and Dave Ross raced over the full Marathon distance of 26.2 miles, recording times of 6 hours and 8 minutes and 3.09 at the South Downs and Halstead Marathons respectively.
Martin Newton took part in the Coombe Hill 5 mile race, finishing in 30 minutes and 2 seconds.
At Saturday’s 5k time-trials, Graham Miller was 134th in 22 minutes and 54 seconds at Bushy Park, while Stephen Clarke and Garrett Campbell finished 59th and 75th in 25.57 and 31.09 at Wimbledon Common.

Sutton Runners’ Jim Mundy is currently engaged in a world record attempt to complete 10 marathons in 10 days which will be registered with Guinness World Records. The "10 Marathons in 10 days Challenge" is being held in conjunction with the Brathay Windermere Marathon and is a fund raising event in support of Brathay Hall Trust.
The runners taking part set off from Brathay Hall in Cumbria on 11th May 2007 and complete their first circuit of England’s largest lake passing through stunning scenery with views of the surrounding hills and woodland. Brathay Hall, a Georgian country house at the north end of Windermere, will provide a base and support throughout the challenge as the athletes complete the Marathon course on each day. The “10 Marathons in 10 days Challenge” culminates on the 20th May with the final circuit of Windermere.

This year’s Group 4 Securicor Sutton 10k was won by Nick Hodges of the Dorking and Mole Valley club in a time of 32 minutes and 51 seconds. Wayne Smith of Stragglers was runner-up, finishing in 33.05, just in front of third place Neil Chisholm from Altrincham AC in 33.21. Paul Doyle of Ranelagh Harriers was 1st MV40 (4th overall) in 33.28.
The ladies’ race was won by Louise Watson of Stragglers (26th) in 36.50, from Pippa Major of South London Harriers (58th and 1st LV35) 39.10 and Clare Nicholson of Stragglers (69th) 39.43.
400 finished the race.
Sutton Runners’ men were represented by Luis Gomez, who placed 8th after a magnificent run in a time of 34.37, Chris Coles (21st) 36.16 and Keith Monteiro (72nd) 40.06. Sutton’s first lady was Vicky Foad (94th) who contributed a strong performance to clock 41.11, followed by the returning from lengthy injury Elinor Caborn (134th) 43.35 and Kathryn Chisholm (219th).
In the men’s team prizes, Stragglers came out on top, with South London Harriers second and Ranelagh Harriers third. Stragglers were also successful in the ladies’ tea, event, with Thames Turbo runners-up and Sutton Runners third.

Jonathan Trehearn from Sutton Runners put in a strong performance at last Friday’s Hyde Park 5k race to finish in 12th place overall in 16 minutes and 50 seconds.
At the other end of the distance running spectrum, Jim Mundy and Dave Ross were back in marathon mode at the Shakespeare 26.2 mile race in Stratford-upon-Avon, completing the challenge in 4 hours 3 minutes and 4.55 respectively.
Chris Coles came up with his best time yet in the weekly Saturday morning 5k time-trials, with 7th place and a 17 minute 44 second showing at Wimbledon Common. Greg Bryant was next (52nd) in 23.28, followed by Kaye Benjamin (69th) 27.37, Jeannie Watkins (70th) 28.28, Tricia Cue (73rd) 29.21, Garrett Campbell (75th) 30.33 and Janette Nzekwe (78th) 33.52. At Bushy Park, Karen Rogers placed 333rd in 28.25, in front of Gerry Richardson (390th) 32.54.

The warm conditions made the going difficult for many and Colombian Luis Gomez was the club’s first finisher in 2 hours 56 minutes and 46 seconds. Martin Newton was next (3.02.59), followed by Dave Ross (3.06.11), Vero Bringlow (3.16.43) and Darran Ford (3.28.28).

Chris Coles came up with a cracking run for Sutton Runners at the Thames Towpath race on Sunday, completing the 10 mile event in 7th place overall in a time of 60 minutes and 38 seconds. Martin Giles was next (14th) in 63.40, closely followed by Andrew Nippard (19th) 64.24. Vicky Foad was Sutton’s first lady (64th – 1st LV35) in 71.18, in front of Ian Killick (76th) 72.26 and Jim Mundy (113th) 76.13.
Darran Ford was next to finish (229th) 85.44, followed by Mark Staples (333rd) 94.02, Mark Asten (334th) 94.04, Wendy Wakelin (355th) 96.37, Emilia Freegard (406th) 102.12 and Kaye Benjamin (410th) 103.09.
Distance man Dave Ross was down in the west country at the weekend, taking part in the 26.5 mile Bath Beat race, run over a testing course, which he finished in 5 hours and 22 minutes.

Vero Bringlow topped Sutton Runners’ entrants in Sunday’s 16-mile Kingston Breakfast run. With the London Marathon now only weeks away, Bringlow headed home with a finishing time of 1 hour 53 seconds and 28 seconds. Martin Newton was next to finish for the club in 1.56.23, in front of Darran Ford 2.04.11, Anne Davidson 2.09.11, Micky Trumper 2.12.13, Paresh Patel 2.13.46, Mark Asten 2.30.39, Mark Staples 2.30.39, Jo Page 2.35.14, Sarah Dunbar 2.36.03 and Emilia Freegard 2.52.21. Sarah Farnell took part in the shorter 8.2 mile event, with a time of 1.18.18.
Dave Ross and Jim Mundy were in action at Bungay in Suffolk, taking part in the town’s Marathon. Ross took 14th place in the race in 3 hours 10 minutes, with Mundy finishing in 3.42.00. In the Half-Marathon, Jola Kandefer achieved a creditable time of 2 hours and 2 minutes in her first attempt at the distance.
Last Friday, Tony Gallagher placed 109th in 22.00 minutes in the Serpentine 5k. On Saturday, Kaye Benjamin and Tricia Cue finished 49th and 55th respectively in 28.08 and 29.52 at the Wimbledon Common 5k time-trial.

Andrea Francis led the Sutton Runners’ contingent at Sunday’s Cranleigh 21 mile race with an excellent time of 2 hours 44 minutes and 24 seconds. The popular Surrey event provides a good indication of how athletes’ training is progressing for the London Marathon in April. Ian Killick was next home (2.45.00), followed by Graham Miller (2.48.40), Anne Davidson (2.55.00), Anita Hedges (2.56.54), Lauren Jones (2.57.41), Mickey Trumper (2.58.00), Mark Staples (3.34.28) and Mark Asten (3.38.39).
The Reading Half-Marathon attracted a field of over 10,000 and Martin Newton placed 146th for Sutton in a personal best time for the distance of 1 hour 21 minutes and 5 seconds. A fine run by Vicky Foad was rewarded with 660th place and a time of 1.30.55. Gerard Cashman finished in 4357th position (1.53.16), with Garrett Campbell next in 9,227th (2.31.32).
Pauline Woodman took part in Saturday’s Bushy Park 5k time-trial, achieving 264th position in 31 minutes and 31 seconds.

Wendy Wakelin has been flying the flag for Sutton Runners in Canada. In last week’s Harry's Spring Run-Off 8K race in Vancouver, her time of 42 minutes and 7 seconds was a personal best for the distance, leading to a final position of 154th.
At Sunday’s Silverstone Half-Marathon, around the famous motor racing circuit in Northamptonshire, Darran Ford kept up his good recent form to record a time of 1 hour 37 minutes and 1 second (588th) over the 13.1 mile course. Lynn Hickey was Sutton’s first lady to finish in 2.08.43 (4144th), in front of Michele Qualtrough 2.22.46 (5072nd).
6 days after his run of 4 hours 21 minutes and 3 seconds at the Duchy Marathon in Cornwall, Jim Mundy was first home for the club at Saturday’s Bushy Park 5k time-trial in 21 minutes and 36 seconds (91st). Pauline Woodman was next in 31.48 (281st). Over at Wimbledon Common, Stephen Clarke finished in 25.29 (58th), followed by Kaye Benjamin 27.50 (67th) and Greg Bryant 31.36 (75th).

As the build up to this year’s London Marathon continues, Sutton’s athletes were involved in a number of half-marathon races held at the weekend. At Fleet in Hampshire, Ian Killick finished in 1 hour 36 minutes, followed by Andrea Francis 1.38.50 (pb), Graham Miller 1.41.22, Therese Panetta 1.43 and Lauren Jones 1.45 (pb). Down on the south-coast in Sussex, Darran Ford took on the notoriously tough Hastings course, where he finished in 1.41. At Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, Martin Newton finished 75th in a field of 2,000 in a time of 1.24.24.
The club had a number of entrants in the Wimbledon Premier 10k. On the fast course, Sutton were led home by Harry Martin (10th) in 35 minutes and 10 seconds. Andrew Nippard was next to finish (29th) 37.30, followed by Neal Richardson 46.44, Garrett Campbell (722nd) 1.05.30 and Kris Coles (769th) 1.14.34.
Jon Trehearn scorched to 2nd place at Saturday’s Wimbledon Common 5k time-trial in 17 minutes and 51 seconds, with Stephen Clarke placing 50th in 25.58. At the Bushy Park time-trial event, Pauline Woodman was 295th in 32.46.

A week after posting a time of 1 hour 36 minutes at the Tunbridge Wells Half-Marathon, Darran Ford of Sutton Runners came up with another great performance on Sunday to claim a personal best of 41 minutes and 12 seconds whilst finishing in 44th spot at the Frank Harmer 10k at Battersea Park.
Three of Sutton’s members were in marathon action at the weekend. Dave Ross was enjoying the warmer temperatures in Barcelona, where he placed 453rd in 3 hours 6 minutes and 28 seconds over the 26.2 mile course, while closer to home at Steyning in Sussex, Jim Mundy and Spencer Rolls stopped the clock at 4.49 and 5.16 respectively.
There was another good turn-out from Sutton at this week’s 5k time-trials. Andrew Nippard headed the cast with 10th position at Wimbledon Common in 18 minutes and 42 seconds, in front of Kaye Benjamin (48th) 28.39 and Tricia Cue (55th) 31.00. At Bushy Park, Stephen Clarke placed 182nd in 25.28

Harry Martin of Sutton Runners was in action for Surrey at last Saturday’s Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park in Nottinghamshire. Competing in the U20 men’s event over 8k, and up against top quality opposition, Martin registered 4th place for Surrey (107th overall) with an excellent run in 31 minutes and 21 seconds.
Two of the club’s members took part in races at Bramley in Hampshire on Sunday. In the 10 mile race, Chris Coles finished 11th and recorded a personal best time for the distance of 59 minutes and 27 seconds, whilst in the 20 mile event Graham Miller placed 403rd in 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Mark Asten was on the south-coast at the Eastbourne Half-Marathon, where a splendid effort over the 13.1 mile race resulted in a personal best time of 1 hour, 56 minutes and 55 seconds.
In Devon, Dave Ross took on the tough Devon Coastal Marathon course, where he finished in 13th place in 4 hours, 27 minutes.
Sutton had 5 entrants at the Saturday morning 5k time-trials. At Bushy Park, Neil Richardson continued his return from lengthy injury with 130th place in 24 minutes and 16 seconds, in front of Gerry Richardson (266) 37.59. Over at Wimbledon Common, Jon Trehearn finished 3rd (17.43), followed by Andrew Nippard 9th (19.12) and Vicky Foad 22nd (21.15).

20 members of Sutton Runners took part in last Sunday’s Valentine’s 10k around the Chessington area. With most of the club’s entrants still feeling the effects of the previous day’s cross country fixtures, Harry Martin was first home (11th) in 36 minutes and 5 seconds, in front of Luis Gomez (12th) 36.06. Joe Bertorelli was next (65th) 41.41 (pb), followed by Chris Coles (79th) 42.21, Vicky Foad (80th) 42.21 (1st LV35), John Rawlinson (127th) 44.31, Therese Panetta (163rd) 46.14, Alan Purvey (181st) 46.51, Anne Davidson (230th) 48.26, Graham Miller (237th) 48.35, Wendy Wakelin (333rd) 52.15, Stewart Howe (352nd) 53.10, Claire Ballhatchet (360th) 53.34 (pb), Sarah Farnell (431st) 55.48, Kaye Benjamin (528th) 59.33, Gill Fry (542nd) 60.10 (pb), Emilia Freegard (583rd) 62.09, Tricia Cue (591st) 62.25, Garrett Campbell (689th) 70.58 and Kris Coles (690th) 71.11.
Long-distance man Dave Ross was out on the road again at the Draycote Water 35 mile event in Warwickshire where he finished in a highly respectable 4 hours and 19 minutes.
Stephen Clarke was the club’s entrant in the Wimbledon Common 5k time-trial on Saturday morning, with 53rd place in 25 minutes and 7 seconds.

The last races in the Surrey cross country league season were held on Saturday and, with a number of team members absent through illness, injury or unavailability, Sutton’s ladies’ and men’s teams faced an anxious time waiting for confirmation of their final league positions.
Competing at Richmond Park, Vero Bringlow placed 32nd in 23 minutes and 58 seconds, in front of Vicky Foad (46th) 24.53, Nicky Miles (119th) 31.14 and Geraldine Richardson (134th) to confirm the club’s team would be competing again in ladies’ division 1 next season.
At Epsom Downs, Jon Trehearn returned from a lengthy bout of injury to claim 13th position for the men’s team in 30.45, followed by Harry Martin (27th) 31.53, Chris Coles (29th) 31.55, Luis Gomez (30th) 31.57 and Charles Green (48th) 33.14. Matt Denmead was next (53rd) 33.31, in front of Andrew Nippard (73rd) 34.39, Stephen Chamberlain (83rd) 37.00, Jim Mundy (88th) 38.40, Ian Killick (90th) 39.15 and Graham Miller (134th) 43.34. The team finished 7th on the day and retain their place in the men’s division 2.
Harry Martin recorded a personal best time of 34 minutes and 28 seconds whilst finishing 24th at the Chichester 10k in Sussex on Sunday.
Club members were also in action at half-marathon events at the weekend. Trudy Kuhn finished 3rd LV45 (152nd overall) at the Dover Half-Marathon in 1 hour 43 minutes and 20 seconds, whilst Jo Hutchings was at Wokingham, completing the 13.1-mile course in 1.43.50.
Darren Webb took part in the London 10k Valentine’s Love Run, placing 647th in 52 minutes and 43 seconds.
At Saturday’s Wimbledon Common 5k time-trial, Greg Bryant finished 29th in 25 minutes and 45 seconds.February 4, 2007
Andrew Nippard continued his return from injury with another outing for Sutton Runners at Saturday’s 5k time-trial at Wimbledon Common, finishing in 14th position in 19 minutes and 13 seconds. Greg Bryant was next (39th) with a time of 23.48, followed by Stephen Clarke (44th) 24.53, Wendy Wakelin (45th) 25.01, Kaye Benjamin (52nd) 27.58, Kris Coles (58th) 33.38 and Tricia Cue (59th) 33.39.
Jim Mundy kept up his assault on marathons around the world by clocking 3 hours, 30 minutes and 25 seconds to place 163rd at the Marrakech Marathon. Meanwhile, Sutton’s other premier ultra-distance runner, Dave Ross was finishing 2nd in the tough 45 mile Tring2Town race with a time of 6 hours, 25 minutes and 51seconds.

The Wimbledon Common 5k time–trial on Saturday morning was won by Harry Martin of Sutton Runners in 17 minutes and 36 seconds. There was a double celebration for the club as Vero Bringlow also claimed first place in the women’s race (10th overall) in 20.36. Sutton were also represented by Martin Giles (7th) 19.00 and Andrew Nippard (8th) 19.11.
