Chairman
Graham Miller

EMAIL: chairman@suttonrunners.org

PROFILE: “I started running to keep fit in the 1980′s and first did the London Marathon way back in 1988. After that I dipped in and out of the sport until I joined the club in 2001 at the same time as Tim Mac as we both trained together for the 2002 London Marathon, which unfortunately I had to drop out of due to injury. A few years of frustrating injuries then followed before I finally completed a London Marathon in 2006, and since joining the committee in 2007 I haven’t looked back and I am still hoping I can squeeze a few more seconds off various PB’s before Father Time tells me it is time to slow down. Outside running I am a Management Accountant working for Royal Mail and I have a 14 year old son Tom who steadfastly refuses to take any interest in his Dad’s hobby, but in the future who knows. I am also a massive rock music fan who enjoys going to gigs and it is good to have found like minded individuals at the club.”

ROLE:

PROFILE: “I moved to Sutton in 2001 and live with my wife Sara and our Westie Dylan. We have three Children, James 28, Katy, 27 and Laura 25 who live in and around London. Running was never a great passion of mine until someone challenged me to run the London Marathon in 2009 and I haven’t looked back. Having rowed and cycled a lot in the past, I am now keen on learning to swim competitively and take part in a Triathlon in 2011(sprint triathlon first me thinks!). Running is a great de-stresser for me and I really enjoy the great companionship and spirit of Sutton Runners.”

Ladies Vice Captain
Donna Richards

EMAIL: ladiesvc@suttonrunners.org

PROFILE:

“I think I started running as soon as I mastered the art of walking and I haven’t stopped since. At school and through college, I participated in most if not all modes of sport although my strongest disciplines were track athletics and swimming. In recent years I’ve taken up distance running and I’m about to run marathon number seven in April 2012.

I joined Sutton Runners in 2011, my main aim being to improve my running times and overall level of fitness. I am happy to report 100% success on both counts; our club results page is a testament to this. Over the next twelve months, I will take the necessary steps to becoming a qualified running coach and, in doing so, will continue to contribute to the successful running of our club. I strive to do my best in everything I do – there is always room for improvement.”

PROFILE: “I smoked over 20 cigarettes a day one time and promised myself, if I gave them up, I would take up jogging as a sort of alternative. I didn’t really believe I would manage either. After a few aborted attempts I bet someone 50 pence I would give them up and haven’t had a cigarette for 27 years. I haven’t stopped running either. It has been a great friend to me and I have met many different types of people over the years and had some great running battles with them !”
